Interpersonal and Structural Discrimination, Ethnic‐Racial Identity and Civic Action Among Immigrant‐Origin Youth of Colour in the United States
Marginalised social identities and discrimination based on these identities often shape civic action among immigrant‐origin youth of colour (IYOC). Acculturative Stress and Psychological Distress Among Latinx Youth: Moderating Role of Family Cohesion and Conflict
This study examined family cohesion and conflict as moderators of associations between discrimination stress and adaptation stress and psychological distress among Latinx youth. Participants included 199 Latinx adolescents (Mage = 13.68). Seventy nine percent were immigrants and 73% had family origins in Mexico. The Role of School‐based Group Mentoring in Promoting Resilience among Vulnerable High School Students
This study examined the role of participation in a year‐long school‐based group mentoring program, Project Arrive ( PA ), on increasing resilience during the first year of high school among students identified as being at high risk for school dropout. Participants were 114, ninth grade students taking part in one of 32 PA mentoring groups, and 71 statistically matched comparison students (53% male, 75% eligible for free/reduced‐price lunch, 62% L…

The current study examines residency status differences in US Latino/a parents' perceptions of how recent immigration actions and news have shaped their lives. Focus group data were collected during the fall of 2017 from 50 Central American parents of adolescents. Focus groups were homogenous with respect to one of four residency statuses: undocumented, Temporary Protected Status (TPS), permanent resident, and citizen. Three themes characterized …
