Intentional performance and incidental learning as a function of personality and task dimensions
The Effects of Locus of Control, Academic Failure and Task Dimensions on a Student’s Responsiveness to Praise
The present study investigated the responsiveness to praise of 285 elementary school pupils as a function of task variables and subject characteristics. The individual difference variables of locus of control and previous school-related failure were utilized. Analyses of the effects of praise differed considerably between an ambiguous coding and an academic reading task. Male subjects with an external locus of control orientation were responsive …

The moderating effect of locus of control in relation to achievement‐motivation variables 1
Locus of Control and Pre-Marital High School Pregnancy
The relationship between pre-marital pregnancy and locus of control was assessed for 165 female, junior and senior high school students from two metropolitan high schools, one middle-class white, and one lower-class black. No significant difference between the two schools in mean locus of control scores was found. Significant differences indicated that within the white middle-class school, pregnant girls tended to score external and non-pregnant …
Cognitive and motivational correlates of generalized expectancies for control
Atypical patterns in locus of control and nonadaptive behavior
Category Clustering in Free Recall and Locus of Control
Locus of Control and Achievement Motivation: Theoretical Overlap and Methodological Divergence
Two studies examined the relationship between locus of control and achievement motivation, using college graduate students and high-school females. Nonsignificant correlations were found between locus of control and several measures of the need for achievement. In addition for one study, a nonsignificant correlation was also obtained when intelligence was partialled out of the relationship. The present findings and discrepancies in the literature…
