Open Access•Joan M Hermsen, Lexi Oetterer et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Applied Social Science•2025

Food pantries differ in terms of their commitment to, capacity for, and practices in support of healthy eating options and nutrition programming for food pantry users. We assess these differences in a sample of 476 food pantries in the Midwestern United States. Using survey data collected in 2021 from food pantry directors, we find high support for offering healthy food options at pantries, although there are some pantry infrastructure and staff …

  • Toward a Campbellian Realist Organization Science

    B Mckelvey•CHAPTER•Variations in Organization…•1999

Campbell’s search for resolution drove him to become a “critical, hypothetical, corrigible scientific realist” (1988b, p. 444−445). And as he himself admitted many times and as his work suggests so clearly, he also became an avowed evolutionary epistemologist. Scientific realism resolved the first dilemma. Evolutionary epistemology abrogated the third one and Campbell’s later conflation of evolutionary epistemology with hermeneutics nullified the…
