Social outcomes of the housing market under climate change
Climate change results in unequal social outcomes within housing markets. Using the Australian housing market data, we examine its disparate social outcomes under climate scenarios presented by the shared socioeconomic pathways (SSPs). Our results suggest that even sustainable pathways with expected societal benefits have the potential to exacerbate social inequities, for example, by disproportionately imposing financial burdens on tenants in the…
The dynamic complexity of cardiovascular severe maternal morbidity among Black women in North Texas: Insights from a system dynamics group model building study
The application of SD GMB provided novel complex systems-grounded insights into the causes and consequences of CSMM among Black women in North Texas, and these insights were leveraged by stakeholders to identify potential preventive solutions to curb these outcomes. These insights led to initial answers to the four primary research questions, illustrating the dynamic complexity of the drivers of CSMM and identifying coherent preventive strategies

Modeling US Adult Obesity Trends: A System Dynamics Model for Estimating Energy Imbalance Gap
Objectives. We present a system dynamics model that quantifies the energy imbalance gap responsible for the US adult obesity epidemic among gender and racial subpopulations. Methods. We divided the adult population into gender–race/ethnicity subpopulations and body mass index (BMI) classes. We defined transition rates between classes as a function of metabolic dynamics of individuals within each class. We estimated energy intake in each BMI class…
