Open Access•Orla Gough, Roberta Adami•ARTICLE•Social Policy and Society•2013

This article examines the saving behaviour of ethnic minorities in the UK. This article uses a quantitative approach to investigate individual saving behaviour in Italy and in the UK and present evidence of the factors deter…

It uses the waves of Labour Force Survey (1984-91) and Quarterly Labour Force Survey (1992-2003) to review the changes in the actual average retirement age in the UK during the period 1984-2003 by gender and ethnicity. The article investigates the link between occupational pension schemes and the actual retir…

  • The impact of the gender pay gap on post-retirement earnings

    Open Access•Orla Gough•ARTICLE•Critical Social Policy•2001•Cited by: 5•References: 12

This article examines the factors affecting women's earnings during their working years that go on to affect their earnings in retirement. In particular, it argues that factors relating to part-time working, career patterns and types of occupation and employment contribute not only to keeping women's income lower than men's during their working life, but also to a reduced entitlement to benefits from occupational pension schemes after retirement.…
