The basic objective of the existing study was to inspect the triangular association between economic growth, poverty, and income disparity in farming and non-farming communities across agro-climatic zones in Punjab province, Pakistan. The cross-sectional Household Integrated Economic Survey (HIES) data and Poverty Equivalent Growth Rate (PEGR) methodology were applied from 2001-2002 to 2015-2016. Approximation of crime, poverty, and misery index across quasi‐democratic and dictatorship regimes in Pakistan
The study explores the nexus of crime rate, misery indices, and poverty in Pakistan for longer and shorter periods by using time series data (1965–2018). Granger causality and autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) approaches have been used to examine the long run and short run associations. Results indicate that all variables cause the crime rate unidirectionally, while the ARDL model states that misery index, poverty, and crime rate are cointegr…

Findings revealed a considerable variation in the magnitude o…
Poverty assessment as a multidimensional socio-economic concept
The definition on poverty has progressed into a multidimensional concept focusing more on socio-economic dimensions than being a mere measure of financial deprivation. Corresponding to this advancement, this study investigated the incidence of multidimensional poverty (MDP) in the Rawalpindi region of Pakistan, taking into account three dimensions, i.e. education, health and housing. Findings revealed an inconsistent declining trend of MDP over t…
