  • Measuring Corporate Alignment With the Circular Economy

Open Access•Giuseppe Pernagallo, Francesco Quatraro et al.•ARTICLE•Business Strategy and the…•2026

The transition to a circular economy (CE) has become a strategic priority for firms, yet empirical assessments of corporate circularity remain fragmented and heavily dependent on structured indicators or self‐reported metrics. This paper proposes a novel, text‐based circularity index derived from mandatory non‐financial statements of large Italian companies. Using a corpus of FTSE MIB sustainability reports (2017–2022), we compute cosine similari…

  • Random walks, Hurst exponent, and market efficiency

    Open Access•Giuseppe Pernagallo•ARTICLE•Quality & Quantity•2025

Market efficiency assumes that prices in financial markets are perfectly informative and, therefore, it is not possible to design trading strategies that outperform the market. The concept of efficiency has important implications for financial stability and, consequently, for financial policies. If asset returns exhibit persistent or anti-persistent behavior, then predictability based on past returns might be possible, which would be a clear viol…

  • Housing market investment in peripheral areas

Open Access•Giuseppe Pernagallo, Giampaolo Vitali•ARTICLE•Papers of the Regional Science…•2025•References: 5

The causal relationship between living in a peripheral area and real estate investment decisions is currently unexplored in empirical literature. Using survey data on 2711 Italian respondents collected between 2022 and 2023, we show that living in a peripheral area has a negative impact on the probability of having invested or investing in real estate in the future. OLS estimates suggest that being in a peripheral area reduces the likelihood of h…

  • Radiocarbon Dating of the Turin Shroud

Open Access•T Casabianca, Emanuela Marinelli et al.•ARTICLE•Archaeometry•2019•Cited by: 1•References: 18

In 1988, three laboratories performed a radiocarbon analysis of the Turin Shroud. The results, which were centralized by the British Museum and published in Nature in 1989, provided ‘conclusive evidence’ of the medieval origin of the artefact. However, the raw data were never released by the institutions. In 2017, in response to a legal request, all raw data kept by the British Museum were made accessible. A statistical analysis of the Nature art…
