  • Homophily and Insularity Dynamics in an Echo Chambers

Open Access•Vanessa Russo, Giulia Andrighetto et al.•ARTICLE•Social Indicators Research•2024•References: 14

  • Pluralismo metodologico nello studio delle dinamiche di opinione. Sociometria, web survey, agent-based modelling

Dario Germani, Barbara Sonzogni et al.•ARTICLE•SOCIOLOGIA E RICERCA SOCIALE•2023•References: 10

  • R&D Subsidization Effect and Network Centralization

Open Access•Pier Paolo Angelini, Pierpaolo Angelini et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Artificial Societies…•2017

This paper presents an agent-based micro-policy simulation model assessing public R&D policy effect when R&D and non-R&D performing companies are located within a network. We set out by illustrating the behavioural structure and the computational logic of the proposed model; then, we provide a simulation experiment where the pattern of the total level of R&D activated by a fixed amount of public support is analysed as function of companies' netwo…

  • "On the Interplay between Extortion and Punishment. An Agent Based Model of "Camorra

Barbara Sonzogni, Federico Cecconi et al.•ARTICLE•SOCIOLOGIA E RICERCA SOCIALE•2013

This paper presents an Agent-Based Model aimed to reproduce the demographics, economic and employment variables of a Southern Italian region (Campania) where one specific variant of Extortion Racketeering Systems (Erss), camorra, is highly active and prosperous. Preliminary results of a set of simulations show the effects of varying levels of extortion and punishment on the rates of inactivity, employment, etc. of a population of agents endowed w…

  • What Do Agent-Based and Equation-Based Modelling Tell Us About Social Conventions

Open Access•Federico Cecconi, Marco Campennì et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Artificial Societies…•2010

In this work simulation-based and analytical results on the emergence steady states in traffic-like interactions are presented and discussed. The objective of the paper is twofold: i) investigating the role of social conventions in coordination problem situations, and more specifically in congestion games; ii) comparing simulation-based and analytical results to figure out what these methodologies can tell us on the subject matter. Our main issue…

  • Normal = Normative? The role of intelligent agents in norm innovation

    Open Access•Marco Campennì, Giulia Andrighetto et al.•ARTICLE•Mind & Society•2009•References: 8

  • Defining and identifying communities in networks

Open Access•Filippo Radicchi, Claudio Castellano et al.•ARTICLE•Proceedings of the National…•2004

The investigation of community structures in networks is an important issue in many domains and disciplines. This problem is relevant for social tasks (objective analysis of relationships on the web), biological inquiries (functional studies in metabolic and protein networks), or technological problems (optimization of large infrastructures). Several types of algorithms exist for revealing the community structure in networks, but a general and qu…

  • Cultural Change in Spatial Environments

Open Access•Domenico Parisi, Federico Cecconi et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Conflict Resolution•2003•Cited by: 9•References: 15

A cellular automata model is used to study aspects of cultural change in spatial environments. Cultures are represented as bit strings in individual cells. Cultures may change because they become more similar to prevailing nearby cultures, are subject to intrinsic random changes, or expand to previously empty cells. Extending Axelrod's (1997) results, the authors show that assimilation does not lead to a single homogeneous culture even if, unlike…
