  • Non-face emojis and credibility in user-generated content

Jian Zou, Xiaodong Jiang et al.•ARTICLE•Internet Research•2026•References: 7

Purpose This study applies the Feelings-as-Information Theory (FIT) to investigate how non-face emojis in user-generated content (UGC) influence perceived review credibility through positive affect and processing fluency, and how these effects vary by review valence and involvement. Design/methodology/approach Two experiments were conducted: a 3 × 2 between-subjects design with review valence as a contextual factor, and a 3 × 2 × 2 between-subjec…

  • The peer effect of persistence on student achievement

    Open Access•Jian Zou•ARTICLE•Economics of Education Review•2024

Little is known about the impact of peer personality on human capital formation. The paper studies the impact of peers’ persistence, a personality trait reflecting perseverance in the face of challenges and setbacks, on student achievement. Exploiting student-classroom random assignments in middle schools in China, I find that having more persistent peers improves student achievement. I identify three mechanisms: (i) an increase in students’ own …

  • Does Urban Shrinkage Inhibit Residents' Welfare? From the Perspective of Urban-Rural Development in China

    Open Access•Rui Ding, Yuqi Zhu et al.•ARTICLE•Social Indicators Research•2024•Cited by: 2•References: 56

  • Progress in biological and medical research in the deep underground

Open Access•Yuhao Zou, Ling Wang et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2023

As the growing population of individuals residing or working in deep underground spaces for prolonged periods, it has become imperative to understand the influence of factors in the deep underground environment (DUGE) on living systems. Heping Xie has conceptualized the concept of deep underground medicine to identify factors in the DUGE that can have either detrimental or beneficial effects on human health. Over the past few years, an increasing…

  • Changes of the acute myocardial infarction-related resident deaths in a transitioning region

Open Access•Yajun Zhao, Jian Zou et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2023

Background The impact of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) on the life span of residents in a transitioning region has not been studied in depth. Therefore, we aimed to evaluate the changes in AMI-related resident deaths in a transitioning region in China. Methods A longitudinal, population-based study was performed to analyze the deaths with/of AMI in Pudong New Area (PNA), Shanghai from 2005 to 2021. The average annual percentage change (AAPC) …

  • Urine metabolomics analysis of sleep quality in deep-underground miners

Open Access•Qiao Wen, Jing Zhou et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2022

Background In previous questionnaire surveys of miners, sleep disorders were found among underground workers. The influence of the special deep-underground environment and its potential mechanism are still unclear. Therefore, this study intends to utilize LC-MS metabolomics to study the potential differences between different environments and different sleep qualities. Methods Twenty-seven miners working at 645–1,500 m deep wells were investigate…

  • The Spatial-Temporal Transition and Influencing Factors of Green and Low-Carbon Utilization Efficiency of Urban Land in China under the Goal of Carbon Neutralization

Open Access•Jun Fu, Rui Ding et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2022

Urban-land development and utilization is one of the main sources of carbon emissions. Improving the green and low-carbon utilization efficiency of urban land (GLUEUL) under the goal of carbon neutrality is crucial to the low-carbon transition and green development of China's economy. Combining the concept of green and low-carbon development in urban land use, carbon emissions and industrial-pollution emissions are incorporated into the unexpecte…

  • Proteomic Characterization of Proliferation Inhibition of Well-Differentiated Laryngeal Squamous Cell Carcinoma Cells Under Below-Background Radiation in a Deep Underground Environment

Open Access•Jifeng Liu, Tengfei Ma et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2020

Background: There has been considerable concern about the potential harmful effects of radiation exposure inducing cancers. However, a few researches focused on the biological effect of below background radiation (BBR) in deep underground environment. To better understand the effect of BBR on cancer, we selected a well-differentiated laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma cell (FD-LSC-1) to observe the biological effect of the BBR in underground labor…

  • Electronic Health Record (EHR)-Based Community Health Measures

Open Access•Karen Frederickson Comer, P Joseph Gibson et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2018

Respondents generally preferred familiar community health measures versus novel, EHR-based measures that are not in widespread use within health departments. Access to sub-county data is limited but strongly desired. Future research and development is needed as LHD staff gain access to EHR data and apply these data to support the core function of health assessment

  • Accelerated restructuring in rural China fueled by ‘increasing vs. decreasing balance’ land-use policy for dealing with hollowed villages

    Open Access•Hualou Long, Yurui Li et al.•ARTICLE•Land Use Policy•2012•Cited by: 261•References: 62

  • Analysis of rural transformation development in China since the turn of the new millennium

Open Access•Hualou Long, Jian Zou et al.•ARTICLE•Applied Geography•2011

  • Differentiation of rural development driven by industrialization and urbanization in eastern coastal China

    Open Access•Hualou Long, Jian Zou et al.•ARTICLE•Habitat International•2009•Cited by: 62•References: 42
