The study was designed based on the iterated Public Goods Game, played face-to-face in groups composed of four male strangers. The game involved interactions both with and without communication to allow the assessment of individual cooperative strategies, leadership potential, and indivi…
Large Differences in the Proportion of People With Reduced MTHFR Enzymatic Activity in Eurasia
Adequate levels of folate are crucial for human development. MTHFR (Methylene tetrahydrofolate reductase) is involved in the metabolism of folic acid and other B vitamins. The aim of this work is to examine the allele frequency and haplotype distribution of MTHFR-C677T and MTHFR-A1298C polymorphisms in two independent samples (North- East Spanish and North-Western Siberia). The degree of population differentiation and signatures of positive selec…
Quantitative and qualitative palmar dermatoglyphics in the Mediterranean population of Delta de l'Ebre (Spain)
The aim of this study is to offer a descriptive analysis of dermatoglyphic traits of the palm in a Spanish population on the North Mediterranean coast. We collected and studied palmar dermatoglyphics of 341 individuals (141 males and 200 females) from Delta de l'Ebre, Catalonia. Sexual and imanual differences were analyzed for several palmar traits, including, a-b ridge-count, D line modal types and pattern frequencien in the hypothenar, Thenar/I…
