The ACM Symposium on User Interface Software and Technology (UIST) is the premier forum for innovations in human-computer interfaces. The Symposium brings together people from diverse areas including tangible and ubiquitous computing, virtual and augmented reality, graphical and Web user interfaces, new input and output devices, and many other aspects of interactive systems. The intimate size and intensive program make UIST an ideal opportunity t…

Association of Fatigue with Emotional-Eating Behavior and the Response to Mental Stress in Food Intake in a Young Adult Population
Fatigue is a common complaint among young adults. We investigated whether eating behaviors are associated with fatigue in this population. The participants consisted of 117 healthy students attending Osaka City University. They completed questionnaires assessing fatigue and eating behaviors. To identify the factors associated with the prevalence of fatigue, multivariate logistic regression analysis adjusted for gender was performed. The Emotional…
Malaria infection and human behavioral factors
The effect of human behavior on malaria infection was investigated in a holoendemic area in the Solomon Islands, using a newly developed mathematical model based on the results of blood examinations and 2 weeks of direct observations. The present study indicated that the place where individuals spent the evening had no significant relation to malaria infection, but that some kinds of clothes significantly reduced malaria infection. However, as th…
