  • Comparative physiological impact of television viewing and video gaming in young adults

    Open Access•Alejandro Araya-Flores, Esteban Núñez-Carrillo et al.•ARTICLE•Computers in Human Behavior•2025

  • Body heigth prediction model from foot measurement in a Chilean population of university student athletes

    Open Access•Celso Sánchez-Ramírez•ARTICLE•Revista Argentina de Antropología…•2024

In forensic research, it is important to identify human remains. Body height is an essential aspect in anthropometric characterization. This is the first study in a Chilean population and aimed to develop a height estimation model for a young adult population of athletes from foot measurements. Central Chilean subjects were included (n=139). Height (H), Foot Length (FL), Foot Breadth (FB), and Heel Foot Breadth (HFB) were measured. For both sex a…

  • Relation between VT1, VT2, and VO2max with the Special Wrestling Fitness Test in Youth Wrestlers

    Open Access•Tomás Herrera-Valenzuela, E Franchini et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2023

    This study investigated the relationship between peak oxygen uptake and ventilatory threshold 1 (VT1) and 2 (VT2) with the Special Wrestling Fitness Test variables. Thirteen wrestlers (male: six; female: seven) of Olympic freestyle wrestling were assessed. The Pearson's correlation coefficient ( p p = 0.002; 95%CI = 0.37-0.93), total throws (r = 0.73; p = 0.004; 95%CI = 0.30-0.91), heart rate recovery (r = 0.58; p = 0.036; 95%CI = 0.05-0.86), and…

  • A Pandemic within the Pandemic? Physical Activity Levels Substantially Decreased in Countries Affected by Covid-19

Open Access•Jan Wilke, Lisa Mohr et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2021

Governments have restricted public life during the COVID-19 pandemic, inter alia closing sports facilities and gyms. As regular exercise is essential for health, this study examined the effect of pandemic-related confinements on physical activity (PA) levels. A multinational survey was performed in 14 countries. Times spent in moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA) as well as in vigorous physical activity only (VPA) were assessed using the…

  • Restrictercise! Preferences Regarding Digital Home Training Programs during Confinements Associated with the Covid-19 Pandemic

Open Access•Jan Wilke, Lisa Mohr et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2020

Confinement measures during the COVID-19 pandemic have caused substantial reductions in global physical activity (PA) levels. In view of the manifold health benefits of PA, the development of interventions counteracting this trend is paramount. Our survey with 15,261 participants (38 ± 15 years, 58.5% females) examined preferences towards digital home exercise programs in 14 countries affected by COVID-19. More than two-thirds of the sample (68.4…
