  • How Much Do We Care About Cultural Heritage? A Rasch Scale Validation Study Among Young Adults

Open Access•Manuele Veggi, Alessandro von Gal et al.•ARTICLE•Heritage•2025•References: 3

Research in museum studies, heritage science, and cultural tourism highlights the “care theory” as a key framework for understanding the relationship between citizens and cultural heritage. Assessing the “sense of care” toward cultural objects and sites can provide valuable insights for museums, education, and public policy. However, visitor studies lack suitable assessment tools. This study fills the gap by introducing the Scale for the Assessme…

  • Designing hybrid and XR narrative applications: A Framework to Describe Authoring Tools in Cultural Domain

  • Authenticity in Interactive Experiences

Open Access•Sofia Pescarin, Giuseppe Città et al.•ARTICLE•Heritage•2024•Cited by: 1•References: 9

Building on our previous work presented at the Eurographics GCH conference, this paper further explores the characteristics of an “authentic experience”, developing a framework that can be applied to the development of XR and hybrid applications in the field of cultural heritage. While recognising the broader concept of authenticity, we have not focused on an in-depth analysis of it. Instead, we focus specifically on “authentic experiences”. Here…

  • Creative engagement and meaning creation: A first experimental protocol on interactive cultural experiences for conservation data

    Open Access•Manuele Veggi, Sofia Pescarin•ARTICLE•Digital Applications in…•2024•References: 10

This paper presents a study conducted in the framework of the PERCEIVE project, which focuses on fostering a "caring attitude" towards Art collections threatened by the phenomenon of colour change. "Sense of care" is indeed shown to exist only if there is a relationship between caregiver and care-receiver and can be elicited using specific triggers, such as "hooks" based on users' curiosity starting from a "knowledge gap". As art practices are pr…

  • Enabling Multiple Voices in the Museum: Challenges and Approaches

Paul Mulholland, Enrico Daga et al.•ARTICLE•Digital Culture & Society•2021

Within the recently launched SPICE project, citizen curation methods and tools are being co-designed through five museum case studies in Finland, Ireland, Spain, Italy and Israel. In each case study a museum is working with partner groups and organisations to introduce tools and methods that support citizen curation for visitor groups that tend to be underrepresented in cultural engagement, including people living with disability, older people, a…

    Open Access•Augusto Palombini, Antonia Arnoldus-Huyzendveld et al.•ARTICLE•Virtual Archaeology Review•2012

The Museum of Casal De' Pazzi (Rome) is built since about ten years on a Pleistocene floor consisting in the ancient riverbed of the Aniene river, at about 200.000 bp. Since its opening, it has been characterized by a strong narrative approach, and communication effort. The digital project realized by the Italian CNR (Institut for Technology applied to Cultural Heritage) implies three applications: a flood simulation, to show the water refilling …

  • Virtual Archaeology and museums, an italian perspective

    Open Access•Augusto Palombini, Sofia Pescarin•ARTICLE•Virtual Archaeology Review•2011

The growing number of virtual museums and applications today available arises many questions concerning the problems connected to their fruition and maintenance. This paper aims at setting up an analysis of the topic, through the steps of three VM projects carried on by the Virtual Heritage Lab (2008, 2010, 2012 (in progress)). Such case studies are taken into account on the basis of three topics: technical maintenance, reliability and semantic d…

  • VR cooperative environments for the interpretation and reconstruction of the archaeological landscape

    Open Access•Eva Pietroni, Sofia Pescarin•ARTICLE•Virtual Archaeology Review•2010

The Internet 2.0 has diffused a new approach enhancing creativity, multimedia communication, information sharing, cooperation: millions of people in the world are expressing the will to interconnect, co-create digital contents and share experience in the cyberspace.
