  • Associations between different weight‐related anthropometric traits and lifestyle factors in Norwegian children and adolescents

Open Access•Hege Kristiansen, Geir Egil Eide et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Human Biology•2018

OBJECTIVES: The purpose of this study was to investigate the association between weight-related anthropometric measures and children's eating habits, physical activity and sedentary lifestyle at a population level. METHODS: Data from the Bergen Growth Study were used to study the association of z-scores of waist circumference (WC), weight-to-height ratio (WHtR), subscapularis (SSF) and triceps (TSF) skinfolds and BMI, with lifestyle factors in 30…

  • Effective behaviour change techniques for physical activity and healthy eating in overweight and obese adults; systematic review and meta-regression analyses

Open Access•Gro Beate Samdal, Geir Egil Eide et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2017

  • Is consumption of sugar‐sweetened soft drinks during pregnancy associated with birth weight

Open Access•Jacob Holter Grundt, Geir Egil Eide et al.•ARTICLE•Maternal and Child Nutrition•2016

In Norway, there were parallel increases and subsequent decreases in birth weight (BW) and consumption of sugar-sweetened carbonated soft drinks (SSC) during the period 1990-2010, and by an ecological approach, we have suggested that the relationship was causal. The objective of this study was to examine if such a relationship was present in a prospectively followed cohort of pregnant women. The study population included 62,494 term singleton mot…

  • Validation of World Health Organization Assessment Schedule 2.0 in specialized somatic rehabilitation services in Norway

Open Access•Vegard Pihl Moen, Jorunn Drageset et al.•ARTICLE•Quality of Life Research•2016

The Norwegian version of WHODAS 2.0 showed moderate to satisfactory reliability and moderate validity in rehabilitation patients. However, the present study indicated possible limitations in terms of responsiveness

  • BMI and BMI SDS in childhood

Open Access•Bente Brannsether, Geir Egil Eide et al.•ARTICLE•Annals of Human Biology•2016

Background Early detection of abnormal weight gain in childhood may be important for preventive purposes. It is still debated which annual changes in BMI should warrant attention. Aim To analyse 1-year increments of Body Mass Index (BMI) and standardised BMI (BMI SDS) in childhood and explore conditional change in BMI SDS as an alternative method to evaluate 1-year changes in BMI. Subjects and methods The distributions of 1-year increments of BMI…

  • Interrelationships between anthropometric variables and overweight in childhood and adolescence

Open Access•Bente Brannsether, Geir Egil Eide et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Human Biology•2014

The interrelationships between BMI SDS and five standardized overweight related anthropometric variables were dependent on age, being weakest in the youngest age group. Independent of sex and age, WC SDS was in this study superior to other anthropometric variables in contributing to variation in BMI SDS during childhood

  • Growth references for 0–19 year-old Norwegian children for length/height, weight, body mass index and head circumference

Open Access•Pétur Benedikt Júlíusson, Mathieu Roelants et al.•ARTICLE•Annals of Human Biology•2013

Because of the observed secular trends in growth, it is advised to use the new references, which have been endorsed by the Norwegian Department of Health

  • Possible relation between maternal consumption of added sugar and sugar-sweetened beverages and birth weight – time trends in a population

Open Access•Jacob Holter Grundt, Jakob Nakling et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2012

The temporary increase in BW and large babies in the regional cohort was identical to that reported for Norway. Individual level data on known pregnancy related predictors for BW could not explain these changes, but the parallel time trend in national consumption of sucrose, in particular as SSB, may lend support to a hypothesis that intake of sugar may have a direct effect on BW and infant body proportions independent of effects through PP-BMI a…

  • Mortality in nursing home residents without cognitive impairment and its relation to self-reported health-related quality of life, sociodemographic factors, illness variables and cancer diagnosis

Open Access•Jorunn Drageset, Geir Egil Eide et al.•ARTICLE•Quality of Life Research•2012

  • Post epidemic giardiasis and gastrointestinal symptoms among preschool children in Bergen, Norway. A cross-sectional study

Open Access•Kristin M Mellingen, Anita Midtun et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2010

A low prevalence of asymptomatic Giardia infection (1.7%) was found among exposed children around one year after the epidemic (1.2% overall prevalence in the study). In the present setting, pre-school children were therefore unlikely to be an important reservoir for continued transmission in the general population

  • Survival of New Plants in Different Industry Environments in Norwegian Manufacturing

Open Access•Ragnar Tveterås, Geir Egil Eide•ARTICLE•Small Business Economics•2000
