Investigating relationships among strontium, barium, and seasonality in wild baboons
Geochemical profiles of Australopithecus africanus and baboon teeth show fluctuating trace elements, possibly reflecting seasonal diets. Here we use laser ablation–inductively coupled plasma–mass spectrometric measurements of calcium‐normalized strontium and barium ratios (Sr/Ca and Ba/Ca) and ion microprobe analyses of oxygen isotopes (δ 18 O) to contrast elemental changes with seasonal rainfall in wild baboons. We employ 16 teeth from 11 South …
Trace Element Patterns in Juvenile Wild Chimpanzee Dentitions
Trace elements are used to infer mammalian early‐life diets, environmental toxins, dispersal patterns, stress histories, and weaning ages. Here, we employ laser ablation‐inductively coupled plasma‐mass spectrometry (LA‐ICP‐MS) to reveal elemental patterns in our closest living relatives, chimpanzees. Multielemental maps of the enamel and dentine of 12 teeth from five wild‐born chimpanzees vary considerably. It appears that spatiotemporal patterns…
A Study on the Role of Graphic Designers for Reduction of Digital Carbon Footprint
Environmental concern is a cognizable topic in current days; almost every industry has initiated to put positive effort into dealing with the negative impact of the production and consumption. Digitalization is being practiced as a better outcome, but it also significantly affects the environment. CO2e has been identified as a pollutant through digital procedures caused by digital carbon emission. Almost half of the population is online, so it is…
Evaluating the role of dates compound in iron deficiency anemia in children
Iron deficiency is by far the first cause of nutritional anemia worldwide. A large portion of iron deficiency is preventable with appropriate and timely intervention. Anemia has been a prevalent health issue in India with over 70% children. Nearly 73 million children below the age of three (79%) suffer from varying degrees of anemia. Pāṇḍu, in Āyurveda, is supposed to be the nearest co-related entity to anemia. Iron deficiency is usually the resu…
Permanent signatures of birth and nursing initiation are chemically recorded in teeth
In 2013 we presented a model for identifying nursing behavior from primate teeth based on rapid postnatal concentration changes in the non-essential trace element barium. Here we leverage the permanent neonatal (birth) line in the enamel of several dozen primate M1 cusps to compare pre- and postnatal trends in barium, zinc, strontium, and oxygen, as each element is believed to evince developmental patterning. Barium and zinc are the most consiste…
