Cyberbullying and problematic internet use in adolescents with ADHD
This study explored the relationships between cyberbullying, problematic Internet use (PIU), moral disengagement, and social skills among children with and without Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) due to the scarcity of research in this domain. The sample comprised 3,021 children aged 9–18 ( M = 13.74; SD = 3.09), categorized into two groups: 2,247 (74.4%) typically developed (TD) children and 774 (25.6%) diagnosed with ADHD. Parti…
Why Do Parenting Styles Matter? The Relation Between Parenting Styles, Cyberbullying, and Problematic Internet Use Among Children With and Without SLD/ADHD
This study focuses on the pervasive issues of cyberbullying and problematic internet use (PIU) among youth, particularly in children with disabilities. To elucidate the role of parents in mitigating these challenges, the study examines the prevalence of three parenting styles (permissive/authoritarian/authoritative), and their correlation with cyberbullying and PIU among children with or without specific learning disorder (SLD) or attention-defic…
Cognitive and technological recourses in teachers’ adaptation to emergency remote teaching
This study investigates the impact of the abrupt transition to emergency remote learning (ERT), specifically focusing on teachers’ cognitive resources and technological resources both before and during ERT. The sample comprised 1,071 teachers: before ERT (53.0%), during ERT (47.0%). Five questionnaires were administered. Results indicated that teachers surveyed during ERT, compared to their counterparts surveyed before ERT, exhibited significantl…
Social Skills and Reciprocal Behavior with a Virtual Player Among Children With and Without SLD/ADHD
The study aimed to compare reciprocal behavior during interaction with a virtual-player in a computer game between children with typical development (TD) and children with specific-learning-disabilities (SLD) and/or with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and to examine its correlation with social skills. A total of 120 children (43 SLD/ADHD, 77 TD) aged 9-11 years participated. Participants completed self-reported questionnaires fo…
Cyberbullying and PIU Among Adolescents Before and During Covid-19 Pandemic
This study examines the role of adolescents-parents/teachers/peers relationships as explanatory variables of cyberbullying and problematic Internet-use (PIU) pre-and during COVID-19 pandemic. Questionnaires were delivered to 348 adolescents ages 13 to 18 years ( M = 15.05) at two time-points, provided a rare opportunity for assessment the pandemic effect. A significant increase was found in Internet-usage and PIU from pre-pandemic to during the p…
Robot programming intervention for promoting spatial relations, mental rotation and visual memory of kindergarten children
The study’s purpose was to examine the contribution of a programmable robot to an intervention program for promoting spatial ability (spatial relations, visual-memory, mental rotation) of preschool children. Eighty-four participants were randomly assigned to three intervention groups: programmable-robot-based intervention, traditional intervention, control group. Spatial ability was examined pre- and post-10 intervention sessions. Findings indica…
Computer‐mediated intervention to foster prosocial ability among children with autism
The study refers to the social aspect of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and focuses on pro‐social behaviour that has a positive effect on social adaptability. The first goal of the study was to determine whether there is a gap in prosocial‐behaviour between children with High‐Functioning ASD (HFASD) and children with typical‐development; and secondly, to foster prosocial‐behaviour with a computer‐mediated intervention versus a non‐computer‐mediat…
Bystanders’ Behavior in Cyberbullying Episodes
The present study explored bystanders’ behavior in cyberbullying (CB) episodes among children and youth, focusing on active and passive behavior patterns. The study examined prevalence and characteristics of bystanders’ behavior following CB episodes, and their active–passive intervention patterns in relation to personal (age, gender) and socio-emotional (self-efficacy, social support, sense of loneliness) factors. Of the 1,094 participants (ages…
