  • Authoritarian Predispositions and Attitudes Towards Redistribution

    Open Access•Gizem Arikan, Eser Şekercioğlu•ARTICLE•Political Psychology•2019•Cited by: 13•References: 53

Authoritarian predispositions are associated with a preference for order, certainty, and security. Using data from European Social Surveys (ESS), we show that this association extends to attitudes towards redistributive policies. We demonstrate that support for redistributive policies that emphasize the government’s responsibility to provide old age, health, and unemployment benefits are positively associated with authoritarian predispositions. Open Access•Uğur Cevdet Panayırcı, Emre Işeri et al.•ARTICLE•European Journal of Communication•2016•Cited by: 3•References: 28

This article aims to determine the stances of media outlets during crises in a polarized media system such as Turkey. In this regard, the goal of this study is to explain whether, and to what extent, the country’s level of democracy moderates the impact of political awareness on public confidence in the judiciary. This study uses hierarchical linear model…

  • Trends in Party System Indicators for the July 2007 Turkish Elections

    Open Access•Eser Şekercioğlu, Gizem Arikan•ARTICLE•Turkish Studies•2008•Cited by: 2

The stellar success of the Justice and Development Party (AKP) has led to the interpretation of the 2002 and 2007 elections as sharp deviations from past political trends. Through an analysis of national and regional‐level party system indicators in the post‐1980 period, the authors find that the success of the AKP should rather be seen as the continuation of trends that started in the early 1990s. Throughout the 1990s, the pro‐Islamist and natio…
