  • The Diffusion of Democracy, 1946–1994

    John O''Loughlin, John O’loughlin et al.•CHAPTER•Politics•2017

We examine the relationship between the temporal and spatial aspects of democratic diffusion in the world system since 1946. • On the Environmental Externalities of Global Trade

    Open Access•Corey L Lofdahl, Corey Lofdahl•ARTICLE•International Political Science…•1998•Cited by: 2•References: 9

Yet natural degradation can be one of the most pervasive and longest lasting consequences of development. Too often these consequences are simply catalogued without sufficient consideration given to their social, political and economic causes. Global deforestation, this study's litmus test of environmental latera…

  • Guns and growth around the globe

    Michael D Ward, Mohan Penubarti et al.•ARTICLE•International Interactions•1995•Cited by: 4•References: 8

A model of direct and indirect linkages between defense outlays and economic output is developed and applied to approximately 100 countries. We illustrate that there is a positive linkage between military spending programs and economic productivity in most countries of the world. In addition, we find generally positive externalities from the military sector into the civilian sectors of the economy. Importantly, we find that the opportunity costs …
