  • Communicating Politics

    Frank L Davis•ARTICLE•Political Communication•2008

In their introductory chapter, the editors explain that their intention is to evaluate the health of U.S. democratic life from a “communication perspective.” Their approach, based on the work of Ha

  • The green vote in presidential elections

    Open Access•Frank L Davis, Albert H Wurth et al.•ARTICLE•The Social Science Journal•2008•Cited by: 2•References: 9

The electoral impact of the environment issue has been debated for years. Thus far, evidence regarding the issue's electoral impact has concentrated on the 1996 presidential election. Two of the three inquiries into that contest found that the environment had a significant impact on voters’ candidate choices. In an effort to clarify the environment's electoral impact, this research expands the inquiry to include five presidential elections, 1984 …

Utilizing the same survey data, this research reexamines the environment'…

    Frank L Davis•ARTICLE•Polity•2000•Cited by: 3

Despite the fact that franked mail is considered one of the most valuable resources that members of the House of Representatives have to advertise their names and accomplishments to constituents, House mail expenditures fell dramatically in the 1990s after almost two decades of growth. This research indicates that public disclosure of individual members' spending in concert with more restrictive expenditure rules is the principal reason for this …

  • American Interest Group Research

    Open Access•Frank L Davis, Albert H Wurth•ARTICLE•Political Studies•1993•Cited by: 1•References: 9

Research on interest groups in America has developed from two major traditions, studies of group activity in the polity and analyses of groups' relations with their members. We argue that these two research streams focus on analytically distinct external and internal dimensions of interest group behaviour, and that the tendency to conflate these two dimensions has caused certain types of groups to be ignored or misunderstood. Categorizing groups …
