Leveraging Foundation Balance Sheets for Greater Impact: Piloting a Pooled Guarantee Program
A guarantee instrument is a credit enhancement tool that can enable philanthropies to unlock millions or billions of dollars for societal impact. Reducing the Compliance Burden of Non‐profit Organisations: Cutting Red Tape
Australian governments now rely on the non‐profit sector to provide essential services. Yet, anecdotally, the compliance burden imposed by governments consumes scarce service delivery resources. This study quantifies the cost of government generated paperwork for Queensland non‐profit organisations. Fourteen non‐profits kept logs to record government paperwork over 12 months. Beyond Stereotypes: An Exploratory Profile of Australian Women Mayors
Women continue to be under-represented in senior positions in local government. This study draws on interviews with 19 women mayors who held office in the Australian state of Queensland during the period 2000–2004. The paper finds that the profiles of women in these positions has markedly changed over the last decade, and concludes that if the local government sector is to remain robust and viable in these changing social and economic times there…

Landscape Change in the Lake Simcoe‐couchiching Basin, 1800–1983
Census data and Trimble's erosive land use (ELU) index are used to document changes in agricultural land use and potential erosion in the Lake Simcoe—Couchiching Basin during the past two centuries. The ELU index is represented by the cover‐management factor in the universal soil loss equation and takes values between 0 (no erosion) and 1.0 (accelerated erosion).
