  • Formation of Business‐Nonprofit Collaborations

Open Access•Andrea Rizzuni, Paola Garrone•ARTICLE•Business Ethics, the Environment…•2026

Business‐nonprofit collaborations are essential for addressing organizational and societal challenges, yet research has largely examined their formation from the perspective of a single partner rather than as a two‐sided process. In this study, we conceptualize collaboration formation as a dyadic matching process and examine two related decisions: whether a business and a nonprofit select each other as partners and what type of collaboration they…

Open Access•Giulia Bartezzaghi, Stefano Quaglia et al.•ARTICLE•Agriculture and Human Values•2026•References: 20

Local governments are reluctant to contract out public services. This article shows that resistance to contracting out is not at odds with efficiency. The sample includes all 135 municipalities that were distributing gas in an Italian region when a national reform ended direct delivery. Contracting out decisions have been analyzed for the subsequent 12 years through a duration model that admits time dependence and interaction with intermunicipal …

Paola Garrone, Luca Grilli et al.•ARTICLE•Local Government Studies•2013•Cited by: 33•References: 44

The attention of scholars and policy-makers is shifting from full privatisation to alternative measures as a means to improve the efficiency of public services. This article focuses on three restructuring measures adopted by local governments: partial privatisation (without transfer of control rights), inter-municipal joint ventures, and the presence of outside directors on the Board. Divergent hypotheses on these measures have emerged from two e…
