Bupleuri Radix ameliorates MASLD induced by high-fat diet and circadian disruption in rats: Involvement of the NR1D1–SREBF1/CYP7A1 circadian–metabolic axis
Integrated metabolomic and transcriptomic analyses reveal Radix Bupleuri alleviates MASLD induced by a high-fat diet and circadian disruption via the DCA/HCA–TGR5–GLP-1 axis
Greening the economy: How territorial spatial planning policy promotes ecological and economic integration
On the political consequences of local deliberative governance in China
How can local governments in developing countries, constrained by limited resources, identify and respond to the most pressing public demands? This paper posits that public deliberative platforms, even those with controlled agendas, can be instrumental in this regard by facilitating communication between local elites and ordinary citizens, thereby leading to an observable uptick in political trust over time. Public deliberation serves two functio…
Lessons from the stigma of Covid-19 survivors: A Marxist criticism appraisal
Stigma refers to devalued stereotypes that create barriers for stigmatized individuals. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the stigmatization of survivors worsened existing inequalities and triggered mass hysteria. The paper delves into the stigmatization experienced by COVID-19 survivors and the role of Marxist criticism in analyzing this issue. The main findings from the empiricist tradition approach suggest that the perception of COVID-19 stigma is…
The use of generalized synthetic control method to evaluate air pollution control measures of G20 Hangzhou Summit
The traditional campaign-style enforcement in environmental governance has been debated whether its rebound effect is likely to eat away the short-term environmental benefits and subsequently bring about severer pollution. There are methodological challenges in assessing the effect of temporary environmental intervention. By applying the generalized synthetic control method (GSCM), we quantified and characterized the effectiveness of environmenta…
Participatory governance and local government responsiveness: Evidence from participation in politics on television in China
Based on the data of cities in China from 2005 to 2015, this paper examines the impact of the sandwiching approach involving the media governance model on government responsiveness with a quasi-natural experiment of participation in politics on television (PPTV). The study found that PPTV can help strengthen government responsiveness. After a series of robustness tests, the conclusion is still valid. The heterogeneity analysis shows that PPTV can…
Tax amnesty and secondary tax evasion
Though tax amnesties (TAs) are considered as a policy tool to increase revenue for governments, they have generated some puzzles. To solve the puzzles of TA we should not ignore the behavioural aspects of delinquent taxpayers. In this paper, we focus on a relatively neglected but important area of the TA literature. Considering that people who participate in tax amnesty policy (TAP) may not honestly report the whole amounts of evaded tax, thus th…

Individual Perception, Bargaining Behavior, and Negotiation Outcomes: A Comparison across Two Countries
This study explores a model of the relationships between negotiators' perceptions of the negotiation situation, their behavior, and negotiation outcomes, using data collected in Canada and China. The results show that while Chinese negotiators are more concerned with maintaining good relations in the negotiation process, Canadian negotiators put more weight on their individual economic gains from negotiation. This result suggests a difference in …
