The Dam Hill bronzes
The ‘Dam Hill’ bronzes are a Roman bronze jug (oinochoe) and shallow dish (patera) belonging to Trinity College, Cambridge, currently on long-term loan to the Fitzwilliam Museum. In the last twenty-five years evidence has come to light that shows the objects were dug up in the outskirts of Cambridge in 1709. This article traces the story of the gradual rediscovery of the origins of the bronzes, and introduces the eighteenth-century antiquaries wh…
Preventive and curative effect of Trigonella foenum-graecum L. seeds in C57BL/6J models of type 2 diabetes induced by high-fat diet
Treatment of high fat diet induced type 2 diabetes in C57BL/6J mice by two medicinal plants used in traditional treatment of diabetes in the east of Algeria
The Changing Structure of Energy Supply, Demand, and CO 2 Emissions in China
Because of its enormous population, rapid economic growth, and heavy reliance on coal, China passed the United States as the world's largest source of CO2 emissions in 2006. China is also becoming a major factor in the global oil market. This article analyzes China's energy production and consumption, with a focus on the energy and CO2 emissions per capita and per unit of gross domestic product (GDP) and the mix of energy sources and end uses. En…
Prevention of type 2 diabetes induced by high fat diet in the C57BL/6J mouse by two medicinal plants used in traditional treatment of diabetes in the east of Algeria
Antispasmodic and antioxidant activities of fractions and bioactive constituent davidigenin isolated from Mascarenhasia arborescens
County/District Relations in Shire and Metropolitan Counties in the field of Town and Country Planning: A Comparison
This article explores the reasons behind the variation in the quality of relationships between counties and districts in England and Wales, concentrating on the field of town and country planning, but within the context of a more general appraisal of the links between county and district. Three major types of influence are discussed: the attitude of the authorities concerned to the 1974 reorganisation; the political/technical power balance within…
An Interaction Approach to County/District Relationships
This article attempts to develop a theoretical framework which will be of use in explaining inter- and intra- county variations in the quality of county/district relationships. It reviews the current meagre literature on inter-organisational relationships, and emphasises the limitations of Evan’s model. An alternative framework is developed by bringing together and reapplying a series of concepts from the literature on intra-organisational co-ord…
