  • Environmental Art in France, 1970–1990

    Ying-Ting Wang, Yi-Ting Wang•ARTICLE•Konsthistorisk tidskrift/Journal…•2025

In the 1970s and 1980s, environmental art emerged in France’s New Towns programs as a critical response to modernist urbanism. This research investigates how these artistic practices turned sensory engagement into a method for urban place-making. Drawing on a series of case studies, three conceptual lenses guide the analysis. First, “anti-cultural strategies” reject art’s subordination to architecture, instead proposing tactile environments that …

  • Bad to All? A Novel Way to Analyze the Effects of Fee-for-Service on Multiple Grades Hospitals Operation Outcomes

Open Access•Yi-Ting Wang, Wenhui Hou et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2021

It is a consensus that Fee-for-Service (FFS) is a traditional medical insurance payment scheme with significant disadvantages, namely the waste of health care resources. However, the majority of the prior works that draw such conclusions from the perspective of social welfare while analyzing the impacts of FFS on operation outcomes of hospitals still lack attention from the existing literature, considering the fact that the majority of public hos…

  • Varieties of Democracy: Measuring Two Centuries of Political Change

Open Access•Michael Coppedge, John Gerring et al.•BOOK•Varieties of Democracy•2020

Varieties of Democracy is the essential user's guide to The Varieties of Democracy project (V-Dem), one of the most ambitious data collection efforts in comparative politics. This global research collaboration sparked a dramatic change in how we study the nature, causes, and consequences of democracy. This book is ambitious in scope: more than a reference guide, it raises standards for causal inferences in democratization research and introduces …

  • Investigating Sequences in Ordinal Data: A New Approach With Adapted Evolutionary Models

Open Access•P Lindenfors, Fredrik Jansson et al.•ARTICLE•Political Science Research and…•2018•Cited by: 7•References: 20

This paper presents a new approach for studying temporal sequences across ordinal variables. It involves three complementary approaches (frequency tables, transitional graphs, and dependency tables), as well as an established adaptation based on Bayesian dynamical systems, inferring a general system of change. The frequency tables count pairs of values in two variables and transitional graphs depict changes, showing which variable tends to attain…

  • Measuring Democratic Accountability: An Initial Report on an Emerging Data Set

Open Access•Herbert Kitschelt, Kent Freeze et al.•ARTICLE•Revista de ciencia política•2009•Cited by: 17•References: 18

In this paper, we report on a new dataset based on expert surveys carried out in nearly 90 countries around the world. This dataset helps to overcome the limited existence of cross-national data on democratic linkage mechanisms between citizens and politicians, especially with regard to contingent exchange of targeted goods for electoral support as most studies that have examined democratic accountability have a narrow geographic focus or are sing…
