    Open Access•Claire Grant, Momina Khan et al.•ARTICLE•Child & Family Social Work•2025•References: 7

We explored disabled birthing parents' fear of, and involvement with, child protective services in the perinatal period, including how such experiences impacted their prenatal, birth, and postpartum care. Birthing parents with a physical, sensory, and/or intellectual or developmental disability were recruited in Ontario, Canada, and completed semi‐structured interviews about their perinatal care experiences. Using an interpretive phenomenological…

  • Participatory presence – social connectedness through collaborative art practices

    Open Access•Oliver Gingrich, Dominik Havsteen-Franklin et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2024

In a post-Covid context, the term presence has become the subject of renewed academic focus, amplified by mass phenomena such as Zoom-fatigue and online classroom teaching. The prism of new materialism allows for a new reading of relationships between technology and human sensing, physical and virtual presence and copresence, with possible design implications: Current research in public health and social-environment discourse is interested in the…

This review aimed to synthesize parent and practitioner experiences of support for parents with both mental health needs and children’s social services involvement. We perfo…

  • Measuring disadvantage in the early years in the UK: A systematic scoping review

Open Access•Amanda Clery, Claire Grant et al.•ARTICLE•SSM - Population Health•2022

The choice of disadvantage indicators, particularly whether individual- or area-level, can affect the inferences made about the relationship between disadvantage and child health. Better access to individual-level disadvantage indicators in administrative data could support development and implementation of interventions aimed at reducing child health inequalities in the early years

  • Freedom and oppression

    Open Access•Claire Grant•ARTICLE•Politics Philosophy & Economics•2013•References: 2

Oppression is commonly deemed a problem of freedom. How though should we conceptualise the freedom-restricting nature of oppression? This paper aims to show that the unfreedom in oppression may be understood in terms of individual negative liberty. The controversial concept of collective unfreedom is not needed. Non-cooperation among the oppressed generates constraints on individual freedom. This non-cooperation is ultimately attributable to the …

  • The legacy of H.L.A. Hart: Legal, Political, and Moral Philosophy

Matthew H Kramer, Claire Grant et al.•BOOK•The legacy of H.L.A. Hart•2008

This text brings together contributions from 18 of the world's foremost legal and political philosophers to examine the lasting influence of H.L.A. Hart. • Promulgation and the law

    Open Access•Claire Grant•ARTICLE•International Journal of Law in…•2006•References: 1

This is a paper about promulgation, and whether it is a sine qua non of law. The promulgation question has been treated occasionally in the jurisprudential literature, although typically only as a subordinate theorem. This paper does not attempt a thorough conspectus, seeking rather to serve as an introductory to what is a longstanding problem of general interest and concern. An argument for the proposition that laws are things that can be known …
