  • Pension Wealth and the Gender Wealth Gap

Open Access•Karla Cordova, Markus M Grabka et al.•ARTICLE•European Journal of Population /…•2022•Cited by: 7•References: 45

We examine the gender wealth gap with a focus on pension wealth and statutory pension rights. By taking into account employment characteristics of women and men, we are able to identify the extent to which the redistributive effect of pension rights reduces the gender wealth gap. Open Access•Janet C Gornick, Eva Sierminska•ARTICLE•Journal of European Social Policy•2021•Cited by: 3•References: 2

Wealth is an increasingly important dimension of economic well-being and is attracting rising attention in discussions of social inequality. In this article, we compare – within and across countries – wealth outcomes, and link those to both employment-related factors and policy solutions that have the potential to improve wealth creation and retirement security for women. By constructing country-specific portraits of wealth outcomes and ‘retireme…

We use a new source of harmonized wealth micro data for five countries: Canada, Finland, Italy, Germany and the US. Our results indicate that the effect of housing wealth dominates the effect of financial wealth in Finland, Italy, Germany, the US, and also in Ca…

    Yelena Takhtamanova, Eva Sierminska•ARTICLE•Feminist Economics•2009•Cited by: 4•References: 3

In many countries, low and stable inflation is the focus of monetary policy. Recent empirical evidence from developing countries indicates, however, that the costs of reducing inflation are disproportionately borne by women. This paper seeks to determine whether a similar pattern is evident in nine Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Economic Development (OECD) countries, using quarterly data for 1980–2004. The study examines economy-wide …
