Tilting‐Tracking Photovoltaic Systems Mitigate Soil Degradation Risks While Maintain Native Vegetation Productivity Across All Reshaped Micro‐Zones in a Desert Steppe
Unlike fixed photovoltaic systems, which can only form one ground rainwater accumulation micro‐zone, the tilting‐tracking photovoltaic systems (TT‐PVS) can create two rainwater accumulation micro‐zones (west and east edges). However, the impacts of TT‐PVS on ecological restoration in arid areas remain poorly understood. This study assessed TT‐PVS impacts on soil quality and plant growth in a desert steppe. Soil quality indices (SQIs) were quantif…
Trends in tuberculosis mortality among older adults in China, 2004–2021: A Joinpoint regression and age–period–cohort analysis
Background: Tuberculosis (TB) remains a major public health problem in China and globally, particularly among older adults. This study aimed to examine secular trends in TB mortality among older adults in China and the net effects of age, period, and cohort. Methods: Data from the National Disease Surveillance Points (DSPs) system were analyzed using Joinpoint regression to determine annual changes in TB mortality among individuals aged 60 years …
Support-seeking attitudes and emotional sharing practices among stay-at-home fathers in urban China
This article draws on two rounds of in-depth interviews with 22 stay-at-home fathers in urban China. It explores how they navigate their caregiving experiences, particularly in relation to their support-seeking attitudes and emotional sharing practices. Understanding the emotional dispositions of these men is timely, as changing caregiving arrangements and an increasingly individualistic culture coexist with persistent gender inequalities. These …

Constructing Stay-at-Home Fathers’ Work-Care Identities in China
This article examines how stay-at-home fathers (SAHFs) position their primary caregiving identity in relation to paid work that they either used to have or currently have part-time/freelance. The aim is to understand how their sense of masculinity is shaped by and/or rebelled against normative gender expectations. 22 Chinese SAHFs participated in this qualitative research, involving one-to-one repeat semi-structured interviews over a year. Four f…
Using sport media exposure to promote gender equality: Counter-stereotypical gender perceptions and the 2019 Fifa Women’s World Cup
By relying on literature on counter-stereotypes and media contact, we investigated whether media exposure is associated with counter-stereotypical gender perceptions. Focusing on the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup, we recruited samples ( N = 2,228) from eight competing countries (China, France, Germany, Italy, Scotland, Spain, England, US) across three continents. We hypothesized that exposure to media coverage of the competition’s counter-stereotyp…
Income and life satisfaction of dual‐earner couples: A dyadic study
Many studies have examined the roles of absolute income and relative income in subjective well‐being. However, previous studies focused mainly on individual‐level indicators and neglected the interdependent effects of each spouse’s income in the family context. In this study, we focused on the relationships among absolute income (real income), relative income (subjective evaluation of the family economic status), and life satisfaction. We applied…
The Making of a Frontier Landscape: The “Ten Views of Dongchuan” in Eighteenth-Century Southwest China
The Making of a Frontier Landscape:The “Ten Views of Dongchuan” in Eighteenth-Century Southwest China* Fei Huang Introduction Located far away at “Heaven’s end” (tianmo), Dongchuan is one of many remote places in the hinterland of Southwest China (Fig. 1). Dongchuan has deep, river-carved gorges and rugged mountains, with significant local variation in climate like most of Southwest China. Mainly because of this rough topography, Dongchuan and ot…
