Bridging policy and practice in tsunami disaster risk reduction
As an archipelagic country located in an active tectonic region, Indonesia faces a high risk of tsunami disasters, particularly in its eastern regions, such as Maluku. Gaps in the disaster risk governance framework for building resilience through the four priorities of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (SFDRR) potentially lead to the failure of achieving SFDRR targets by 2030. This study evaluates tsunami risk reduction policies an…
Integrated tsunami risk framework considering agent-based evacuation modelling
This study develops an integrated tsunami risk framework combining stochastic tsunami hazard and agent-based evacuation modelling. The framework is applied to the case of Saga, Kochi, Japan, with a population of ∼ 2,200 anticipated to experience significant tsunami events (∼ M9.0). First, stochastic earthquake source models are generated for two values of magnitudes (M8.8 and M9.0) and used to carry out stochastic tsunami inundation simulations. …
Peran Regulasi Pemerintah Dalam Pengelolaan Risiko Bencana
Pemerintah Kota Ambon melakukan upaya pengur…

The natural warning signs of tsunami earthquake in Indonesia
Natural warning signs and self-evacuation are essential to save lives in the event of a tsunami caused by an earthquake, especially if there are no clear early signs for example ground shaking. This paper explores the participants’ experiences focusing on how participants’ perceptions and responses to what they felt, saw or heard before seeing the first wave of 2006 tsunami in Cilacap, Indonesia. Using a phenomenological approach, this paper anal…
