  • Rural areas and social work

Open Access•Julia Hille, Manuela Brandstetter et al.•ARTICLE•International Social Work•2024•References: 1

Demographic change, securing social services, dealing with migration and agreeing to democratic participation are particularly rural challenges in Austria, Switzerland and Germany. Although social work is responsible for all these issues, there is a lack of a differentiated view. What exactly are rural areas? Who are the relevant actors in and for social work? As the social contexts are very different, research must differentiate and take into ac…

  • Participation at the margins – participation practices from the viewpoint of young people in residential care

Open Access•Claudia Equit, Samuel Keller et al.•ARTICLE•European Journal of Social Work•2024•Cited by: 1•References: 2

  • My cosmos, my opportunities, our spaces

    Open Access•Samuel Keller•ARTICLE•Children and Youth Services Review•2023•Cited by: 1•References: 19

Despite much discourse on growing-up environment as a central dimension of “child-well-being”, little is still known about why, how, and where meanings are created in it for children. For despite ongoing efforts in childhood research, children's perspectives remain methodologically poorly embedded. Therefore, the author of this paper asks about relevance settings in children’s lifeworld - derived exemplarily from adopted preschool children’s envi…

  • Narratives on leaving care in Switzerland

    Open Access•Samuel Keller, Thomas Gabriel et al.•ARTICLE•Child & Family Social Work•2021•Cited by: 1•References: 2

Research on institutional care and its long‐term effect on life trajectories provides crucial and sometimes unexpected insights. In a qualitative study in Switzerland, we have conducted 37 narrative interviews with people who experienced residential care between 1950 and 1990. The analysis was based on a reconstructive life course perspective and grounded theory. The findings show a complex interplay of residential care context (here: narratives …

  • Out of home care in France and Switzerland

Open Access•Thomas Gabriel, Samuel Keller et al.•ARTICLE•Psychosocial Intervention•2013

This article focuses on the structural similarities and dissimilarities that exist between child protection systems in France and Switzerland, as exemplified by the evolutions of the last decade. The absence of an integrated holistic system and the great diversity of practices between territories in both countries creates a reality that is a challenge for research and practitioners alike. Furthermore, legislation in France and Switzerland is quit…
