  • Assessing the mental health impacts of Israeli occupation infrastructure in the West Bank by combining geospatial data with a representative survey of Palestinian youth

    Open Access•Nadia Almasalkhi, Peter Glick et al.•ARTICLE•Health & Place•2025•References: 3

Palestinian youth in the West Bank, occupied Palestinian territory (oPt) live in proximity to various forms of Israeli occupation infrastructure, such as checkpoints, road obstructions, a separation barrier, and Israeli settlements. We investigated the effect of proximity to such infrastructure on youth mental health and health risk behaviors by linking geospatial data on the locations of occupation infrastructure to geocoded survey data collecte…

  • Building an Enduring Peace in Yemen

Ashley L Rhoades, Daniel Egel et al.•BOOK•Building an Enduring Peace in Yemen•2021

Yemen's civil war entered its sixth year in 2021. United Nations–led peace talks, which have been ongoing since the very beginning of the crisis, have struggled to gain traction. This report draws on five years of RAND research to describe the challenges facing efforts to achieve an enduring peace in Yemen and outlines constructive steps the international community can take to achieve an enduring peace.

  • Peace Dividend

Daniel Egel, Shira Efron et al.•BOOK•2021

The Abraham Accords, a major political breakthrough between Israel and the Muslim nations of the world, could also have wide-reaching economic impacts. Deeper economic integration could create 150,000 new jobs among Israel's current partners in the accords, and these benefits could grow to 4 million new jobs (and $1 trillion in new economic activity) over a decade, if the accords grow to include 11 nations, which some have speculated is possible

  • Efficient Estimation of Data Combination Models by the Method of Auxiliary-to-Study Tilting (AST)

Bryan S Graham, Cristine Campos De Xavier Pinto et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Business and Economic…•2016

We propose a locally efficient estimator for a class of semiparametric data combination problems. A leading estimand in this class is the average treatment effect on the treated (ATT). Data combination problems are related to, but distinct from, the class of missing data problems with data missing at random (of which the average treatment effect (ATE) estimand is a special case). Our estimator also possesses a double robustness property. Our proc…

  • The Costs of the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict

C Anthony, Daniel Egel et al.•BOOK•2015

This study estimates the net costs and benefits if the long-standing conflict between Israelis and Palestinians follows its current trajectory over the next ten years, relative to five other possible trajectories that the conflict could take. The goal of the analysis is to give all parties comprehensive, reliable information about available choices and their expected costs and consequences.
