Behrouz Khanmohammadi, Ebrahim Bodaqi et al.•ARTICLE•ARAMAZD Armenian Journal of Near…•2025

Maku County, located in the northwestern corner of Iran, has historically been a critical crossroads between major empires, including Persian, Armenian, and Turkish powers. Despite its strategic significance, the region’s challenging geography, characterized by rugged mountains and difficult terrain, has contributed to its marginalization in both Eastern and Western scholarly research. This article introduces a new study of the archaeological sit…

  • A metal belt in the Orumiyeh museum, Iran

Behrouz Khanmohammadi, Annarita S Bonfanti et al.•ARTICLE•ARAMAZD Armenian Journal of Near…•2022

In this contribution, the authors analyse the belt’s morphology and decoration, and identify a series o…

Behrouz Khanmohammadi, Annarita Stefania Bonfanti et al.•ARTICLE•Iran•2022

This paper discusses a bronze belt currently kept in Orumiyeh Museum; its distinctive morphology and decoration are closely paralleled by another belt found in the area of Gargul, Piranshahr, not so long ago. The iconography of this belt shows a possible Assyrian influence, while the artefact itself is clearly of Southern Caucasian derivation; regarding a particular feature concerning its clasp it resembles specimens found in level IV of the Hasa…
