An investigation of laboratory-based positive and negative emotional suppression in relation to posttraumatic stress disorder symptom clusters
Findings provide evidence for a link between PTSD and positive emotional suppression among women currently experiencing IPV by a male partner and using substances, highlighting positive emotional suppression as a potential target in PTSD treatment for IPV populations with comorbid substance use concerns. Risk and protective factors associated with posttraumatic stress disorder among layperson responders to opioid overdose incidents
Responding to opioid overdoses is traumatizing for many and results in a considerable burden of PTSD among layperson responders. Findings provide novel evidence of the interplay of emotion dysregulation and cortisol reactivity, an indicator of hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal system axis stress reactivity, following emotionally evocative stimuli in relation to PTSS severity.
