Aristotle's arm-swing hypothesis
Introduction Aristotle's observational hypothesis suggests that runners may run faster if they swing their arms, yet direct evidence that arm swings enhance propulsion during running is lacking. This paper aims to develop a non-VO2-based computational pipeline to estimate propulsive and vertical impulses from pressure/force and kinematic data, and to examine whether arm-swing modification training can improve running performance. Methods One worl…
Mindfulness Courses Training Promotes Preschool Children’s Ability to Recognize Facial Expressions of Emotion
Children’s ability to recognize facial expressions plays a critical role in their emotional understanding and cognitive development. Previous research suggests that mindfulness training can effectively enhance children’s facial expression recognition, yet the underlying mechanisms remain unclear, and evidence from real-world educational settings is limited. This study first conducted a cross-sectional analysis to examine the relationship between …
The Reciprocal Relationships Among Perceived Parental Support, Career Exploration and Career Aspiration Developmental Trajectories
INTRODUCTION: This three-wave longitudinal study examined the reciprocal relationships among perceived parental support, career exploration, and career aspiration trajectories in adolescents, with a focus on collectivist cultural context. The research aimed to clarify how these variables dynamically influence one another during high school and whether gender differences exist in their developmental patterns. METHODS: = 15.11 years) from Shandong …
The contradiction between bridging the digital divide and reducing carbon emissions
The impact of digital infrastructure on regional green innovation efficiency through industrial agglomeration and diversification
This study reveals the spatial impact of digital infrastructure (DI) on regional GIE, introducing two novel perspectives of industrial agglomeration - its concentration (IC) and diversification (ID). The results reveal that local DI significantly improves local GIE but has a “siphon effect” on neighboring areas, leading to an inhibitory effect. Local DI promotes local IC and ID, which enhances local GIE. However, local DI’s spillover effects decr…
Background environment mitigate heat islands from inadequate urban green coverage while amplifying socioeconomic thermal inequities
Zixue Powder attenuates septic thrombosis via reducing neutrophil extracellular trap through blocking platelet STING activation
Thyroid dose assessments due to inhalation of 131I for nuclear medicine workers
Background In general, medical staff who work in nuclear medicine should be entirely safe in their professional environment. Nevertheless, we already know that the working environment of the nuclear medicine staff is not completely safe due to the handling of high amounts of radionuclides for diagnostic and therapy applications, which is especially relevant for 131 I (as a non-sealed source). Purpose The goal of this study was to assess the inhal…
The mediating role of loneliness on relations between face-to-face and virtual interactions and psychological well-being across age
Lack of social interaction is associated with a heightened sense of loneliness and, in turn, poorer psychological well-being. Despite the prevalence of communicating with others virtually even when physically alone, whether the social interaction–loneliness–well-being relationship is different between face-to-face and virtual interactions and between younger and older adults is relatively understudied. This 21-day diary study examined this questi…
Electrocatalytic and Optoelectronic Characteristics of the Two-Dimensional Titanium Nitride Ti 4 N 3 T x MXene
A relatively new class of two-dimensional (2D) materials called MXenes have garnered tremendous interest in the field of energy storage and conversion. Thus far nearly all MXenes reported experimentally have been described as metals, with a lone report of a mixed-metal carbide phase exhibiting semiconducting character. Here, we report the optical, electrocatalytic, and electrical properties of the 2D Ti 4 N 3 T x MXene (T x = basal plane surface …
