La plupart des repertoires topographiques du Proche-Orient ancien citent deux villages ayant pour nom Terqa. Il s'agit d'un Terqa oriental, probablement situe dans les environs de Diyāla, et d'un Terqa occidental sur l'Euphrate que l'on identifie aujourd'hui a la colline de ruines de Tall 'Asāra.
