  • Intact behavioral but atypical neural correlates of visual statistical learning in adults with developmental dyslexia

    Open Access•Sonia Singh, Christopher M Conway•ARTICLE•Acta Psychologica•2026•References: 77

Similar to previous work on children with DD (Singh, Walk, & Conway, 2018), adults with DD showed atypical neural responses but intact motor learning of the visual statistical patterns. These findings suggest that adults with DD may rely on different prediction-based learning mechanisms to acquire visual statistical contingencies, consistent with theories positing differences in visual-attention and basal ganglia-based learning in DD

  • Brief review of the 2022 reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act: Gaps and way forward

Open Access•Abha Rai, Krithi Ravi et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Social Work•2025

The Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) has profound impacts on individuals affected by domestic violence. Through its reauthorizations, this legislation has aimed to support immigrants. Despite improvement, there remain gaps. In this brief note, we focus on the stated goals of the VAWA and review impacts of reauthorizations on immigrants. To review the legislation, we utilize a historical and intersectional feminist analytical lens. Furthermore, w…

  • Using Artificial Neural Networks to Simulate Social Category Learning: A Tutorial

    Sonia Singh, Sonia E Singh et al.•ARTICLE•Social Cognition•2025•References: 3

This tutorial introduces the use of connectionist (or artificial neural network) computational modeling to understand mechanisms for social psychological phenomena. We explain how modeling requires researchers to make explicit their assumptions and make concrete their operationalization for hypothesized mechanisms. The tutorial walks readers through the conceptual steps of how to design an artificial neural network based on Lei et al. (2020) and …

  • Exploring the Health Research Priorities of the South Asian Community in British Columbia

Open Access•A S Sidhu, Sonia Singh et al.•ARTICLE•Progress in community health…•2025

Background: South Asian Canadians are not proportionally represented as participants in health research studies and can be attributed to participant-related and researcher-related factors. Objectives: The South Asian Health Research Collaborative aimed to determine the top 10 health research priorities for the South Asian community by building engagement in health research. Methods: South Asian Health Research Collaborative convened researchers, …

  • Understanding Primary Care Physician Perspectives on the Diagnosis and Management of Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease: A Qualitative Study

Open Access•Natalia I Heredia, Jemima C John et al.•ARTICLE•INQUIRY The Journal of Health…•2024

Primary care physicians (PCPs) are well suited to manage patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), but the limited, existing research suggests inadequate knowledge about the natural history, diagnostic methods, and management of NAFLD. The purpose of this qualitative study is to further understand the knowledge and practices for the diagnosis and management of NAFLD among PCPs. We conducted in-depth interviews with PCPs in the Grea…

Open Access•Tebitha Mawokomatanda, Sonia Singh et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Immigrant and Minority…•2023

  • Mpox Vaccine Interest Survey Prioritization and Data Flow: Maricopa County, Arizona, July–August 2022

Brandon J Howard, Jennifer E Collins et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Public Health•2023

With increasing mpox cases in Maricopa County, Arizona, the county’s health department launched a survey on July 11, 2022, to gather eligibility and contact data and provide clinic information to those interested in JYNNEOS as postexposure prophylaxis (PEP) or expanded postexposure prophylaxis (PEP++). Survey data were matched to case and vaccination data. Overall, 343 of the 513 respondents (66.9%) who reported close contact with an mpox case pa…

  • Atypical predictive processing during visual statistical learning in children with developmental dyslexia: An event-related potential study

Open Access•Sonia Singh, Anne M Walk et al.•ARTICLE•Annals of Dyslexia•2018

  • HIV Diagnoses Among Men Who Have Sex With Men and Women—United States and 6 Dependent Areas, 2008-2011

Abraham Brumberg, Sonia Singh et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Public Health•2014•Cited by: 3•References: 10

Objectives. We sought to describe HIV diagnoses among men who have sex with men and women (MSMW), who have the potential to bridge HIV transmission risk from men who have sex with men (MSM) to women. Methods. Applying National HIV Surveillance System data for persons aged 13 years and older, we examined estimated numbers and percentages of HIV diagnoses among MSMW and MSM only (MSMO) from 2008 to 2011, and estimated the annual percentage change a…

  • Television Food Advertising to Children: A Global Perspective

Bridget Kelly, Jason C G Halford et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Public Health•2010•Cited by: 20•References: 13

Objectives. We compared television food advertising to children in several countries. Methods. We undertook a collaboration among 13 research groups in Australia, Asia, Western Europe, and North and South America. Each group recorded programming for 2 weekdays and 2 weekend days between 6:00 and 22:00, for the 3 channels most watched by children, between October 2007 and March 2008. We classified food advertisements as core (nutrient dense, low i…
