  • Ambiguus Tiles

    Hyunjung Kim, Hyun-Jung Kim et al.•ARTICLE•Leonardo•2021•References: 1

This statement presents a novel expressive medium that the authors call Ambiguus tiles, which construct dual-view tile mosaics. While similar to wall and surface mosaics made with conventional tiles, Ambiguus tiles can be assembled and rearranged to create dual-view tile mosaics in any size and form. Fact vs. Fiction, a letter sculpture composed of 115 Ambiguus tiles, is presented here as an example of the creative possibilities for using Ambiguu…

  • Simulation and Managerial Decision Making

    Open Access•Hyunjung Kim, Hyun-Jung Kim et al.•ARTICLE•Public Administration Review•2013•Cited by: 6•References: 7

Systems approaches present opportunities for public managers and policy makers to view policies and programs in a broader context. This article presents a framework to explain how simulation modeling promotes double‐loop learning in management teams by building and exploring collective mental models as well as by enhancing accuracy of the mental models. The authors discuss the types of problems that may benefit from simulation modeling and illust…

  • Building confidence in causal maps generated from purposive text data

    Open Access•Hyunjung Kim, Hyun-Jung Kim et al.•ARTICLE•System Dynamics Review•2012

This paper explains a systematic way to code qualitative text data to generate causal maps for system dynamics modeling. The study was motivated by the important role qualitative data play in system dynamics and the need for formal methods to document the interpretive process of using text data in modeling. The coding method elucidated in the study was influenced by grounded theory, a flexible, yet rigorous way to build a theory from raw qualitat…
