Reexamine Interpretation, Awaken Sense-perception—From Susan Sontag’s Against Interpretation
“Content theory” occupies the meaning of artistic works like one hand covers the sky, occupying the stage of the emergence of sensibility, resulting in the absence of sensibility in the appreciation of artistic works. However, the work of art itself is an aesthetic structure with a sense of summoning power. Art is born by “touch” and exists by “feeling”. It arises from very different sense organ, and also calls upon the connoisseur to respond wit…

Psychometric Properties of the Defense Mechanisms Rating Scales-Self-Report-30 (DMRS-SR-30)
Assessment of defense mechanisms has a longstanding history within the clinical psychology and psychopathology literature. Six subhypotheses are tested to learn the differences in musical works. The analysis is carried out by Student's t-test and Kruskal–Wallis test. The analysis results manifes…
Are Place-Based Policies Always a Blessing? Evidence from China’s National Poor County Programme
In this paper, we evaluate the effects of a large-scale and continuing place-based policy in China. In 1994, the Chinese central government designated 592 counties as National Poor Counties (NPC), which have been receiving preferential treatment in several aspects. Our identification strategy exploits a discontinuous criterion for determining a county’s eligibility of the programme. We find that the NPC programme failed to foster local economic g…
China’s Rapidly Aging Population Creates Policy Challenges In Shaping A Viable Long-Term Care System
In China, formal long-term care services for the large aging population have increased to meet escalating demands as demographic shifts and socioeconomic changes have eroded traditional elder care. We analyze China's evolving long-term care landscape and trace major government policies and private-sector initiatives shaping it. Although home and community-based services remain spotty, institutional care is booming with little regulatory oversight…

Even those students who have already received enrollment notices from well-known American universities plus generous scholarships cannot guarantee that they will get visas. This has engendered strong resentment a…
