Plio-Pleistocene Small Mammal-Based Biochronology of Eastern Anatolia and Transcaucasus
The known Plio-Pleistocene mammalian record, mainly represented by small mammals, and its biotic and geological context in the vast region of Eastern Turkey and Transcaucasus provides a sound base for regional biochronology. Recently obtained faunal associations and the main evolutionary lineages found in the region support direct correlations to the European (ELMA/MN/MQ) and the Eastern European (faunal complexes/MQR-MNR) biochronological system…
Geological and biotic context of the Plio-Pleistocene evolution of the Caucasus-Caspian Region (Akchagylian transgression)
A Holocene floodplain sequence from the Kirenga Valley, Lake Baikal region (Siberia), and its significance for molluscan and mammalian biogeography
The archaeological record in the Baikal region is characterised by a marked discontinuity separating different groups of hunter-gatherers within the Neolithic period. A range of sedimentary archives has been studied to investigate this issue and whether it had an environmental cause. Our focus has been on floodplain sequences from river valleys, which can augment other higher resolution records such as those from lakes. Here we report on the moll…
Caspian-type dinocysts in NE Turkey mark deep inland invasion of the Akchagylian brackish-water basin during the terminal Late Pliocene
Environmental and geodynamic settings of the earliest hominin migration to the Arabian-Caucasus region
Pliocene – Early Pleistocene history of the Euphrates valley applied to Late Cenozoic environment of the northern Arabian Plate and its surrounding, eastern Turkey
The Early Pleistocene site of Kermek in western Ciscaucasia (southern Russia)
Stratigraphic and tectonic settings of Early Paleolithic of North-West Armenia
Quaternary interconnections in Eurasia
Plio-Pleistocene geological record and small mammal faunas, eastern shore of the Azov Sea, Southern European Russia
The Sevsk woolly mammoth (Mammuthus primigenius) site in Russia
Evolution of Borsodia (arvicolidae, mammalia) in the villanyian and in the early biharian
