  • Spatio-temporal variations of climate along possible African-Arabian routes of H. sapiens expansion

    Open Access•Markus L Fischer, Philipp Munz et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary Science Advances•2024•Citada por: 2•Referências: 34

Eastern Africa and Arabia were major hominin hotspots and critical crossroads for migrating towards Asia during the late Pleistocene. To decipher the role of spatiotemporal environmental change on human occupation and migration patterns, we remeasured the marine core from Meteor Site KL 15 in the Gulf of Aden and reanalyzed its data together with the aridity index from ICDP Site Chew Bahir in eastern Africa and the wet-dry index from ODP Site 967…

  • Paleo-Enso influence on African environmentsand early modern humans

    Stefanie Kaboth‐bahr, William D Gosling et al.•PREPRINT•2022•Citada por: 1

lt;p>In this study, we synthesize terrestrial and marine proxy records, spanning the past 620,000 years, to decipher pan-African climate variability and its drivers and potential linkages to hominin evolution. We find a tight correlation between moisture availability across Africa to El Niño Southern Ocean oscillation (ENSO) variability, a manifestation of the Walker Circulation, that was most likely driven by changes in Earth’s eccentricity. Our…

  • East Asian winter monsoon variation during the last 3000 years as recorded in a subtropical mountain lake, northeastern Taiwan

    Open Access•Tsai‐Wen Lin, Stefanie Kaboth‐bahr et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2021•Citada por: 1•Referências: 6

The East Asian Winter Monsoon (EAWM) is a fundamental part of the global monsoon system that affects nearly one-quarter of the world’s population. Robust paleoclimate reconstructions in East Asia are complicated by multiple sources of precipitation. These sources, such as the EAWM and typhoons, need to be disentangled in order to understand the dominant source of precipitation influencing the past and current climate. Taiwan, situated within the …
