Swimming with the Whales
When it became a democracy in the early 1990s, Mongolia began to embrace a multi-pillared foreign policy known as the 'third neighbour' policy, whereby it regarded the United States and other democracies as its 'third neighbour' that balances the influence of its powerful immediate neighbours, Russia and China. Thereafter, four major inflection points have emerged in the development process of the 'third neighbour' policy, all in response to chan…

Mongolia becoming a permanent neutral nation? Focusing on the debate and challenges of the permanent neutral nation policy
Mongolia found itself increasingly under pressure to back Russia over Ukraine and China in its disputes with Japan and in the South China Sea. In this emerging scenario, taking sides would be extremely costly for a small state. However, since September 2015, when Mongolian President Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj and his foreign policy team launched a campaign both domestically and abroad to institutionalize a ‘permanent neutrality’ status, foreign policy…
Agricultural history in pastoral society of Mongolia

They were exposed to different cultures, beliefs, values, attitudes, and institutions. The papacy and Europe were thus forced out of their narrow religious-geographic perspectiv…
A study on the alternatives to Korea-Mongolia diplomatic cooperation in the 21st century - Focusing on the 'Third force’ concept in the region

Ideological parallelism

Content analysis of 6 months of coverage suggests that liberal publications in both nations (Kyunghy…
