Transportation carbon emission efficiency network formation mechanism and spatial structural complexity analysis
The growing intricacy and expansion of the transportation network structure present challenges to achieving low-carbon development and sustainable growth in China's regional transportation industry. This study employs the super-efficiency SBM model and social network analysis to examine the mechanistic formation of carbon emission networks, emphasizing temporal and gradient distribution patterns of efficiency networks, spatial transfer pathways, …
Is the Renminbi a Global Currency? An Evaluation Based on Offshore Foreign Exchange Market Trading Patterns
This article provides a new framework to evaluate the status of Renminbi internationalization. It proposes that the trading patterns of a currency in the global foreign exchange market embody the currency’s position in the international monetary system. Based on foreign exchange trading data provided by CLS Group, the article constructs a ranking of major international currencies including the Renminbi. It finds that the Renminbi shares more simi…
Economic Uncertainty and Exchange Market Pressure
This paper evaluates the impact of local and external economic uncertainty shocks on China’s exchange market pressure from a time-varying perspective. We first construct a simple behavioral model to provide some economic background for our empirical analysis. The model identifies two channels, namely market sentiment and market demand, through which economic uncertainty has a time-varying impact on exchange market pressure. Notably, we calculate …
U.S. Economic Uncertainty Shocks and China’s Economic Activities
This paper presents new empirical evidence concerning the time-varying responses of China’s macroeconomy to U.S. economic uncertainty shocks through a novel TVP-VAR model. The results robustly reveal that a rise in U.S. economic uncertainty would exert sizable, persistent, and significant detrimental effects on China’s gross domestic product (GDP), price level, and short-term interest rate during the period when common shocks take place, such as …
Disentangling Geomagnetic and Precipitation Signals in an 80-kyr Chinese Loess Record of 10 Be
The cosmogenic radionuclide 10 Be is produced by cosmic-ray spallation in Earth's atmosphere. Its production rate is regulated by the geomagnetic field intensity, so that its accumulation rate in aeolian sediments can, in principle, be used to derive high-resolution records of geomagnetic field changes. However, 10 Be atmospheric fallout rate also varies locally depending on rainfall rate. The accumulation rate of 10 Be in sediments is further co…
The 3MV Multi-Element AMS in Xi'an, China
A 3MV multi-element accelerator mass spectrometer (AMS) has been installed in Xi'an, China, and preliminary tests have been completed. The results of both background and precision tests for 4 nuclides are 3.1 × 10 –16 , 0.2% ( 14 C); 1.8 × 10 –14 , 1.4% ( 10 Be); 2.3 × 10 –15 , 1.14% ( 26 Al); and 2.0 × 10 –14 , 1.75% ( 129 I). The unique features of this facility are the newly developed ion source accepting solid and CO 2 samples; the specially …
