China’s Pacific Islands Strategy under Xi Jinping: Revisionist Grand Strategy and Wedge Tactics amid U.S.–China Strategic Competition
Three-Dimensional Reconstruction of Indoor Building Components Based on Multi-Dimensional Primitive Modeling Method
The integration of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Digital Twin (DT) has emerged as an innovative tool in the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) domain. To successfully utilize BIM and DT, it is crucial to update the 3D model in a timely and accurate manner. However, limitations remain when handling massive point clouds to reconstruct complex indoor structures with varying ceiling and floor heights. This study proposes a se…
Dietary water footprint of most-consumed foods: A national consumption-based assessment
Purpose Shifts in national dietary patterns can significantly influence a country’s water footprint (WF), particularly in water-stressed regions like South Korea. This study evaluates how changes in Korean food consumption between 2008 and 2023 have altered the national dietary WF, using 55 of the most-consumed food items to identify demographic and regional “hot spots” of rising water use and to provide an empirical basis for sustainable food an…

Effect of emergency medical service response time on fatality risk of freeway crashes: Bayesian random parameters spatial logistic approach
Introduction: Emergency medical service (EMS) serves as a pivotal role in linking injured road users to hospitals via offering first aid measures and transportation. This paper aims to investigate the effect of emergency medical service (EMS) response time on the fatality risk of freeway crashes. Methods: Crash injury severity data from Kaiyang Freeway, China in 2014 and 2015 are employed for the empirical investigation. A Bayesian random paramet…
Theory and Case Study on China’s Response to US Pressures during the US-China Strategic Technology Competition: Overbalancing and Economic Security in Neoclassical Realism

What Factors Would Make Single-Vehicle Motorcycle Crashes Fatal? Empirical Evidence from Pakistan
The existing research on motorcycle safety has shown that single-vehicle motorcycle crashes (SVMC) account for a higher fatality rate than other types of crashes. Also, motorcycle safety has become one of the critical traffic safety issues in many developing countries, such as Pakistan, due to the growing number of motorcycles and lack of sufficient relevant infrastructure. However, the available literature on SVMC and motorcycle safety in develo…
Relationship between Vehicle Safety Ratings and Drivers’ Injury Severity in the Context of Gender Disparity
Previous studies have analyzed the relationship between vehicle safety ratings from impact tests and actual crash injury severity. Nevertheless, no study has investigated the relationship in the context of gender disparity. The main objective of this paper is to explore the validity of the 5-star ratings of the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which describes vehicles' protectiveness, using actual traffic crash data by gender.…
Modern pollen–climate relationships and their application for pollen-based quantitative climate reconstruction of the mid-Holocene on the southern Korean Peninsula
A modern pollen dataset is a prerequisite for reconstructing quantitative paleoclimate and paleovegetation cover using fossil pollen records. Although multiple modern pollen–climate datasets have been established covering a wide range of climate conditions, such datasets are exceedingly rare for the Korean Peninsula (KP). In this study, we acquired a modern pollen dataset from 198 surface soil samples collected on 37 mountains on the southern KP.…
Investigating the Impacts of Real-Time Weather Conditions on Freeway Crash Severity: A Bayesian Spatial Analysis
This study presents an empirical investigation of the impacts of real-time weather conditions on the freeway crash severity. A Bayesian spatial generalized ordered logit model was developed for modeling the crash severity using the hourly wind speed, air temperature, precipitation, visibility, and humidity, as well as other observed factors. A total of 1424 crash records from Kaiyang Freeway, China in 2014 and 2015 were collected for the investig…
Factors affecting reproductive health promotion behavior among late-adolescent girls in South Korea: A cross-sectional descriptive study
Mediating effect of sleep satisfaction on the relationship between stress and self-rated health among Korean adolescents: A nationwide cross-sectional study
Investigating Spatial Autocorrelation and Spillover Effects in Freeway Crash-Frequency Data
This study attempts to investigate spatial autocorrelation and spillover effects in micro traffic safety analysis. To achieve the objective, a Poisson-based count regression with consideration of these spatial effects is proposed for modeling crash frequency on freeway segments. In the proposed hybrid model, the spatial autocorrelation and the spillover effects are formulated as the conditional autoregressive (CAR) prior and the exogenous variabl…
