Are cities navigating towards low carbon? A comparative view of China and globe
Spatial-temporal distribution and multiple driving mechanisms of energy-related CH4 emissions in China
Public Concern about Haze and Ozone in the Era of Their Coordinated Control in China
In China, due to the implementation of the Action Plan for Prevention and Control of Air Pollution (APPCAP), the concentrations of PM 2.5 (fine particulate matter) and severe haze in most cities have decreased significantly. However, at present, haze pollution in China has not been completely mitigated, and the problem of O 3 (ozone) has become prominent. Therefore, the prevention and control of haze and O 3 pollution have become important and no…
Are the Benefits of a High-Emission Vehicle Driving Area Restriction Policy Greater than the Costs
China implemented a vehicle driving area restriction policy to control air pollution by delimiting a no-driving area for high-emission vehicles (HEVs). Current academic research does not evaluate the benefits and costs of this policy based on vehicle level and lacks evidence at the regional level. Therefore, a cost-benefit analysis method is developed to evaluate the benefits and the costs of this policy, based on 2.128 million HEVs in the Beijin…
An exploration of spatial differences and influencing factors of migrant attainment in Chinese cities
Spatial inequality in migrant attainment has become a core issue in migrant welfare and urbanization. This paper investigates the spatial differences and related factors of migrant attainment in 337 Chinese cities using national survey data and applying the factor analysis method. The results indicate that migrants’ challenges in the economic and residential dimensions contribute the most to the relatively low degree of migrant attainment. The sp…
Revealing Environmental Inequality Hidden in China’s Inter-regional Trade
Trade among regions or countries not only allows the exchange of goods and services but also leads to the transfer of pollution. The unequal exchange of goods and services and associated value added and pollution may be subject to environmental inequality in China given that Chinese provinces are in different development stages. By using the latest multiregional input-output tables and the sectoral air pollutant emission inventory in 2012, we tra…
