  • The risk factors of future exacerbations and treatment responses among different inhalation therapies of patients with preserved ratio impaired spirometry

Open Access•Jun Cao, Tian Sun et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Global Health•2026

Background: Preserved ratio impaired spirometry (PRISm) is closely related to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). However, there is a lack of relevant research on the treatment of patients with PRISm. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the risk factors of future exacerbations and treatment responses among different inhalation therapies of patients with PRISm. Methods: This is a retrospective cohort study. Patients with PRISm wer…

  • The asymmetric impact of venture capital on green innovation

Open Access•Jianmin Li, Farouk Yahya et al.•ARTICLE•Humanities and Social Sciences…•2026

As innovation intersects with environmental sustainability, venture capital has emerged as a pivotal catalyst for green technologies, fundamentally reshaping resource utilization patterns and economic growth trajectories. This study investigates the impact of venture capital (VC) investments on green innovation within the framework of the natural resource Kuznets curve (NRKC) across 28 OECD countries spanning 2007–2020. Our linear estimations rev…

  • Bian Que’s Twelve Channels

    Open Access•Jianmin Li, J Y Li et al.•ARTICLE•Asian Medicine•2024

The name Bian Que, like that of the Yellow Emperor (Huangdi), has reverberated through the development of Chinese medicine since the time of the Warring States. The discovery of a human figurine showing channels and strategic points, together with a number of medical texts, during the excavation of the Laoguanshan Han tomb in Chengdu, Sichuan, in 2012–13 has reignited controversies about whether it is correct to speak of a specific Bian Que schoo…

  • Early Prediction Model for Critical Illness of Hospitalized Covid-19 Patients Based on Machine Learning Techniques

Open Access•Yacheng Fu, Weijun Zhong et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2022

Motivation Patients with novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) worsen into critical illness suddenly is a matter of great concern. Early identification and effective triaging of patients with a high risk of developing critical illness COVID-19 upon admission can aid in improving patient care, increasing the cure rate, and mitigating the burden on the medical care system. This study proposed and extended classical least absolute shrinkage and …

  • Contemporary Russia’s Economic Transition and Development and China-Russia Economic and Trade Cooperation

Jianmin Li, Li Jianmin•ARTICLE•Social Sciences in China•2021

The year 2021 marks the 30th anniversary of the dissolution of the Soviet Union and Russia’s transition from a planned to a market economy. It is also the 25th anniversary of the announcement of a strategic partnership of cooperation between China and Russia and the 20th anniversary of the signing of the China-Russia Treaty of Good Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation. Therefore, 2021 is especially important both in terms of the development of…

  • NNK, a Tobacco-Specific Carcinogen, Inhibits the Expression of Lysyl Oxidase, a Tumor Suppressor

Open Access•Guang Cheng, Jianmin Li et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2014

A tobacco-specific carcinogen, 4-(methylnitrosamino)-1-(3-pyridyl)-1-butanone (NNK), is believed to contribute to the cancer burden in cigarette smokers. To evaluate NNK effects on the expression of lysyl oxidase (LOX), a tumor suppressor, we examined this enzyme at various levels in NNK-treated rat fetal lung fibroblasts (RFL6). Exposure of cells to NNK reduced levels of steady-states LOX mRNA and new transcript synthesis. NNK inhibited all LOX …

  • Using the HIV Surveillance System to Monitor the National HIV/Aids Strategy

Kristen Mahle Gray, Tian Tang et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Public Health•2013•Cited by: 1•References: 26

Objectives. To report on indicators of the National HIV/AIDS Strategy, we analyzed data collected through the national HIV surveillance system. Methods. We analyzed data from adults and adolescents aged 13 years or older diagnosed with HIV in 13 US jurisdictions that have laboratory reporting of CD4+ T-lymphocyte (CD4) and viral load (VL) test results and enter CD4 and VL test results into the national surveillance system. Results. Of 4899 people…

  • HIV in Predominantly Rural Areas of the United States

Open Access•H Irene Hall, Jianmin Li et al.•ARTICLE•The Journal of Rural Health•2005

BACKGROUND: The burden of HIV/AIDS has not been described for certain rural areas of the United States (Appalachia, the Southeast Region, the Mississippi Delta, and the US-Mexico Border), where barriers to receiving HIV services include rural residence, poverty, unemployment, and lack of education. METHODS: We used data from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) HIV/AIDS Reporting System to determine the rates of HIV (data from 29 stat…

  • Epidemiologic profile of HIV and Aids among American Indians/Alaska natives in the USA through 2000

    A D McNaghten, Joyce J Neal et al.•ARTICLE•Ethnicity and Health•2005•Cited by: 3•References: 1

These data demonstrate that the impact of STDs and the potential for an impact of HIV/AIDS among AI/AN are greater than indicated by the relatively small number of AIDS cases in this population. Additional mechanisms are needed to fill gaps in the available data. Coordination among the complex network of healthcare providers, tribes, and federal, state, and local health agencies is needed to improve delivery of information about HIV/AIDS to AI/AN…
