Using data from 42 countries (N = 75,117; Mage = 32.07; …
The Impact of Contact Experience on the Attitudes and Beliefs Toward Same-Sex Parents and Their Children Among Kindergarten Teachers
Intergroup contact is important to reduce prejudice toward sexual minorities. Yet little is known regarding how kindergarten teachers' contact experiences with sexual minority affect their attitudes toward sexual minorities and their beliefs regarding same-sex family parents' parenting skills and same-sex family children's adjustment. This cross-sectional study recruited kindergarten teachers (n = 261; mean age = 38.8 years) in Taiwan in 2021-202…
The dynamics of adolescents’ pubertal maturation, depressive symptoms and friendship networks: Stochastic actor-oriented model
This study aimed to examine whether adolescents select friends based on their friends’ levels of depressive symptoms, and to determine whether the potential homophily phenomenon for depressive symptoms is attenuated after considering pubertal maturation and gender. Data were from the first three waves of the Taiwan Youth Project, a longitudinal study that annually surveys 7 th graders from 40 junior high schools. Participants were asked at each w…
Weight stigma is associated with body mass index among college students in Taiwan: The mediated role of internalized weight stigma
Because perceived weight stigma may significantly impact changes in BMI through internalized weight stigma, treatment strategies to ameliorate self-stigma may enhance the results of weight-reduction programs. Such treatment strategies should be considered for inclusion in weight-loss interventions
Parent-Youth Relationships and Youth Alcohol Use: The Moderating Role of Parental Alcohol Use
Previous studies have shown that strong parent-youth relationships serve as a protective factor inhibiting early alcohol use onset among youth, while parental alcohol use as a risk factor. However, little is known about the moderating effect of parental alcohol use on the relationship between parent-youth relationships and youth alcohol use. Using a nationally representative sample of 2,667 junior high school students entering eighth grade (aged …

Methods: Data ( N = 1806, M age…
