Spatio-temporal assessment of land use efficiency and urban expansion in Assam (2000–2025) using SDG 11.3.1 frameworks
This study provides a spatio-temporal analysis of urbanization and land-use efficiency in Assam, India (2000–2025) using Global Human Settlement Layer (GHSL) datasets. Evaluating SDG 11.3.1, we integrated the Land Consumption to Population Growth Rate (LCRPGR) with supplementary metrics: Achieved Population Density in Expansion Areas (AAPDEA) and Marginal Land Consumption per New Inhabitant (MLCNI). Findings reveal severe spatial heterogeneity an…
Impact of urban heat island effect on dengue incidence
Dengue fever, identified by the World Health Organization as a significant global health threat, is the fastest-spreading mosquito-borne viral disease transmitted by Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus mosquitoes. Annually, 100-400 million cases are reported, with over 14 million cases and 10,000 deaths in 2024 alone, highlighting the public health challenge of dengue, especially in tropical and subtropical urban areas. The Urban Heat Island (UHI)…
Integrating low impact development practices with GIS and SWMM for enhanced urban drainage and flood mitigation
Spatial epidemiology of acute respiratory infections in children under 5 years and associated risk factors in India
Background In India, acute respiratory infections (ARIs) are a leading cause of mortality in children under 5 years. Mapping the hotspots of ARIs and the associated risk factors can help understand their association at the district level across India. Methods Data on ARIs in children under 5 years and household variables (unclean fuel, improved sanitation, mean maternal BMI, mean household size, mean number of children, median months of breastfee…
