  • Generational Politics in the United States

Sally Friedman, David Schultz•BOOK•Generational Politics in the…•2024

The role of generations is an important, yet often overlooked, variable in the study of American politics. A topic of research in sociology, business, and marketing, the focus on generations frequently occurs in American pop culture and journalism. The general public often assumes that different generations have different political leanings and beliefs—that the Silent Generation is all Republican, white, and conservative, or that Millennials are …

The intersection of gender identity, sports participation, and health care is increasingly under scrutiny within legal and policy spheres. Specifically, the practice of tracking U.S. high school athletes’ menstrual cycles sustains concerning implications for gender-based discrimination, particularly affecting transgender and nonbinary athletes. This paper examines the legal and policy implications of menstrual tracking in high school athletics, h…

    Open Access•Aram Simonyan, David Schultz•ARTICLE•Central European Journal of…•2023•Referencias: 43

Eastern European post-communist countries inherited pervasive corruption after the breakup of the USSR. Public trust was the crucial factor in tackling corruption and democracy building in these countries. This article takes Armenia as a case to study the antecedents and evolution of trust in Eastern European post-communist countries that went through a government coup in the 21st century. By comparing the corruption situation in Armenia before a…

  • Public Policy and Administration in the Age of Donald Trump

    Open Access•David Schultz•ARTICLE•Central European Journal of…•2022

Donald Trump’s presidency produced a few legislative victories. Instead, as with his predecessors, the Trump presidency had to rely more on executive orders and other actions to move its agenda. But even this unilateral approach produced fewer results than his supporters hoped for or his detractors feared. This article will examine public policymaking and administration under the Trump Administration. It will argue that while the 2016 electoral v…

  • Assessment of hostile and benign intent attributions in early childhood

    Open Access•David Schultz, Elisabeth Groth et al.•ARTICLE•Social Development•2017•Referencias: 7

Throughout middle childhood and adolescence, hostile intent attributions fairly consistently predict levels of aggression. Across 28 published studies in early childhood, however, researchers have found less consistent relationships. We believe this may be due to a majority of these studies using an inappropriate methodological approach for early childhood, forced‐choice questioning. We tested the use of open‐ended vs. forced‐choice questions abo…

  • Election Law and Democratic Theory

David Schultz•BOOK•Election Law and Democratic Theory•2016

While numerous books and articles examine various aspects either of democratic theory or of specific topics in election law, there is no comprehensive book that provides a detailed and scholarly discussion of the political and democratic theory underpinnings of election law. Election Law and Democratic Theory fills this important gap, as author David Schultz offers a scholarly analysis of the political principles and democratic values underlying …

  • (Un)Conventional Wisdom and Presidential Politics

    Open Access•David Schultz•ARTICLE•PS Political Science & Politics•2016•Referencias: 4

Conventional wisdom pervades presidential politics, and there is no doubt that this will again be true in 2016. First among “old politicians’ tales” is that a political party’s placement of a national convention in a specific state can affect presidential voting there, swinging or flipping it to its presidential candidate. Second, the selection of a vice-presidential candidate as a favorite son (or daughter) will deliver a state’s electoral votes…

The emergence of celebrity politics—"politainment"—is the product of postmodernism as well as the rise of entertainment and consumerism in modern society. The index of emotion knowledge represents the child's ability to recognize and label emotion expressions. We administered control and predictor measures when the childr…
