    Economists have sought little systematic help from economic anthropology. Some of the reasons for this neglect can be gleaned from a study of the history of economic anthropology and in monitoring the reaction of economists to these efforts.     Literature on the link between market structure and industrial innovation is surveyed. Part II focuses on the so-called Schumpeterian hypothesis that large firm size, diversification or monopoly power is conducive to innovation and technical progress.
