    Open Access•Denise L Monti, Julia C Gill et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Education•2024

Over the last two decades, there have been numerous initiatives to improve undergraduate student outcomes in STEM. • The professional identity of STEM faculty as instructors of course-based research experiences

Open Access•David I Hanauer, David Hanauer et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Education•2024

Course-Based Research Experiences (CRE) and the inclusive Research and Education Communities (iREC) are two successful and impactful reform efforts that integrate research and teaching. The aim of this study is to explicate the professional identity of instructors who imple…

    Daniel Russell, Daniel A Russell•ARTICLE•Littérature•2007

In a general way, in continuity with a 1990 article, emblems and emblematics are the symptom of a Renaissance epistemological shift. This stays of contemporary interest especially as the cultural importance of emblems to the Renaissance is now largely recognised

  • The genres of epigram and emblem

Open Access•Daniel Russell, Daniel A Russell•CHAPTER•The Cambridge History of Literary…•1999

While the word ‘epigram’ entered the French language at the end of the fourteenth century, it remained rare until the sixteenth, and the earliest citations of the word in the Oxford English Dictionary all date from the sixteenth century. Likewise, the term did not become common in German until the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. The modern epigram does seem in some respects to be truly an invention of the Renaissance. And like the other trul…

Recognition of the great importance in Renaissance culture of the versatile and complex form of the emblem is increasingly widespread. This series aims to satisfy the needs of those who require access to texts in an edition as close to the original as possible. Each text in the series is preceded by a substantial essay specially written by an acknowledged authority on the text. In this volume, John Manning writes the preceding essay for Andrea Al…

    Open Access•Daniel Russell, Daniel A Russell•ARTICLE•Renaissance Quarterly•1981

By the 1580s Andrea Alciati's reputation was firmly established in France, and for the French there was no doubt that he deserved an honored place among the greatest of the Renaissance humanists. In 1583, Jean de la Gessée placed Alciati between Dorat and Muret as a model to be imitated in Latin and translated into French by aspiring young poets. And hyperbole is too mild a word to describe André Thevet's feverish hymn of praise in his Vrais Pour…
