Building Community Capacity to Help Persons with Mental Illness: A Program Evaluation
In a time of crisis, persons with mental illness who encounter the police are often sent to jail or are involuntarily committed for psychiatric evaluation when mental health services are not readily available. Friends, Family, and Neighborhood: Understanding Academic Outcomes of African American Youth
This study examines the relationship between academic performance and a number of contextual factors for African American freshmen in an urban setting. Living arrangements, relatives and friends’ religiosity, exposure to academic success, and neighborhood perceptions were analyzed to investigate their impact on intention to complete school, grade point average (GPA), and number of suspensions. Serving chemically exposed infants: A survey of Iowaʼs maternal and child health clinics
The effects of prenatal exposure to alcohol and other drugs in the newborn and their impact on the child's later development is a growing concern. Health, social service, and educational professionals in Iowa were surveyed about their involvement with this population.
